    		Well, in 'M. Butterfly' a French diplomat is in this situation, but I can't find an American one. This story (play then film) is based on a real case where a French diplomat was fooled for years into giving information to his Chinese lover. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107468/ and http://www.sover.net/~ozus/mbutterfly.htm

    Personally, it beats me how anyone could be that stupid and achieve any position in the diplomatic service.
