Bill Doolin, Eddie Johnson, Bernardo O’Reilly, George Bailey and Captain Jamie Waring all have something in common with Rhett Butler and even Spartacus. More than a decade later, the extremely popular Clint Reno had the honor to do that same thing. Hint: They are heroes in more ways than one. What did they do?

I am not seeing the link, but perhaps this information on the people listed will help someone else find it.|
Bill Doolin was a member of the Dalton Gang who formed his own outlaw band, the Wild Bunch, active in the 1890s. He was killed in a shootout with a US Marshall.
Eddie Johnson is a very popular name!
Bernard O'Reilly helped rescue survivors from a plane crash in Queensland, resulting in the award of a medal for civilian bravery. He later fought in World War II.
George Bailey, central character of "It's a Wonderful Life", played by James Stewart, saved his brother from drowning as a child. The resulting injury kept him from fighting in World War II, but the brother he had saved won a Medal of Honor.
In "The Black Swan", Tyrone Power played Captain Jamie Waring, who helped ex-pirate Henry Morgan clear the Caribbean of pirates. And wooed the ex-governor's daughter.
Rhett Butler (played by Clark Gable) featured in :Gone With the Wind". A blockade runner early in the Civil War, he enlisted in the Confederate army for the final stages of their losing struggle, and was imprisoned by Unions forces. He saved the lives of Ashley Wilkes and several others by providing them with an alibi when they were suspected of murdering Scarlett's second husband. Near the beginning of the film he was challenged to a duel which he gracefully declined.
Spartacus was a slave who became a leader in the unsuccessful slave uprising against the Roman Republic known as the Third Servile War. Played by Kirk Douglas in the movie "Spartacus", he is shown near the end in a duel where he kills his opponent in order to spare him the ordeal of crucifixion which is to be the fate of the winner.
Clint Reno was the character played by Elvis Presley in "Love Me Tender", who had stayed at home while his brother Vance fought for the Confederacy in the US Civil War, and had been involved in a train robbery (of a Union train) during his service. Hearing that Vance had died in battle, Clint marries Vance's girlfriend, which created tension when Vance comes home. Clint dies in a shootout with Vance.
