Where and when in World War I did the Catholics of the 16th Irish division and the Protestants of the 36st Ulster division fight side by side against the German enemy, and by what typically Irish monument are they now commemorated?

    Question #98888. Asked by Flem-ish. (Aug 25 08 4:02 PM)

(3rd battle) Ypres, Belgium in 1917 June 07.

one of the greatest battles of history was fought. In 1917, the Allies launched a massive attack upon the German positions, and the 3rd battle of Ypres commenced. British, Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians and two Irish divisions; the 36th Ulster Division and the 16th Irish Division.

I am not so confident on this part....are they commemorated at Lone Tree Cemetery? The Memorial is situated at the eastern side of the town on the road to Menin (Menen) and Courtrai (Kortrijk), and bears the names of 55,000 men who were lost without trace during the defence of the Ypres Salient in the First World War.
