    Shaking one’s head usually implies ‘No’, while a nod means ‘Yes’. In what country is this the opposite?

    The only place I know of where they completely reverse the meaning of our nod and head-shake gestures is Bulgaria.

    In some countries (Bulgaria and Sri Lanka) nodding actually has the opposite meaning: "no".
    In fact, nodding means no in all byzantine civilisation era. It includes Bulgaria, Greece, and some other slavic places.
