    Is it true that in July 2009 smoking will be banned in public places in Turkey?

    		Yes.

    Smoking was first banned in 1997 in public buildings with more than four workers, as well as planes and public buses. [76]

    On 3 January 2008, Turkey passed a law banning smoking in all indoor spaces including bars, cafés and restaurants. It also bans smoking in sports stadia, and the gardens of mosques and hospitals. The smoking ban came into force on May 19, 2008, however bars, restauntants and cafes are exempted until July 2009.
