Lapu-Lapu was the Philippine warrior who, along with others, killed Magellan.

    The lapu-lapu is a grouper.

"Groupers are fish of any of a number of genera in the subfamily Epinephelinae of the family Serranidae, in the order Perciformes.

"Not all serranids are called groupers; the family also includes the sea basses. The common name grouper is usually given to fish in one of two large genera: Epinephelus and Mycteroperca."

    Yes !

Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan and his namesake lapu-lapu is of either two genera : Epinephelus or Mycteroperca.
It is an ugly but delicious fish with white flaky sweet flesh. Below is a recipe of a dish I had at a friend's house. Notice how they pile on the garnishings to hide the ugly fish ---- same thing my friend did.
