    How is Americus relevant to the history of renewable energy?

    Question #99596. Asked by edmund80. (Sep 21 08 7:51 PM)

    I know Americus, Georgia, more as the home of Koinonia Farms and its work with race relations, its world-famous Habitat for Humanity, and its erstwhile fruitcakes.

    This page links to many businesses Americus-based that focus on renewable energy. You probably want something more specific.

    Yes....very close !

    It is so specific that a historic marker marks the ( approximate ) spot.

    Very generous of you, Edmund. That was close only geographically; in reality, off by many miles!

    Looks as though you're looking for Charles Lindbergh's environmentalism. Here's the marker that shows he first soloed near Americus:

    And here's a page from the Lindbergh Foundation:

    Wow! How do you like my "businesses Americus-based" above??

    Thank you, qp for that new piece of trivia !
    I did not know that about Lindbergh and needless to say that was not what I was looking for.
    A++ for effort though.
    What I am referring to is in Americus, GA and has a direct relation to renewable energy.
    And I have a gigantic picture of the marker to show you just what it is about.

    Hmmm...

    Maybe you mean the first SOLAR BATTERY installation, invented by Bell Telephone Laboratories.
