    I make it 11 (or 10 if you lump the 47s together). 20, 26/0, 33/2, 37, 47/0, 47/3, 50, 58, 60, 66 and 67. Not all of every class was fitted with the control.

For the benefit of people in general, MGR = Merry Go Round, and refers to a system of looped delivery of coal to power stations. The trains drop their cargo on the move and head out again round a sort of circular track.. Obviously, very slow moving is needed at times in this process. Somebody tells me they saw on TV how trains are lowered into the London Underground system. Is this true and if so, why would trains be lowered when it is surely easier to have trains drive down into the network on sloping rails? And at which places does this lowering take place?

The saying 'the real McCoy' was coined after Elijah McCoy, an inventor of lubricators. Legend has it that railroad engineers would ask if the locomotives were fitted with the real McCoy, as his lubricators were considered to be superior. Where did McCoy study engineering?
