I'd suggest it's Americans. Nobody mentioned Minority Ethnic Group.

There are more than 35 million people of Hispanic origin in the United States, and the 2000 Census indicates that they are more diverse than they were in 1990. U.S. Hispanics of Mexican origin - the largest Hispanic group - added more than 7 million people over the decade. But, the fastest growing group, in percentage terms, was 'other' Hispanics, whose population increased from 5 million in 1990 to 10 million in 2000. Many of those who chose 'Other Spanish/Hispanic/Latino' on the census form were immigrants from Central or South America. 'Other' Hispanics also include a growing number of people with multiethnic backgrounds who do not identify with a single country or region of origin.See: http://www.prb.org/Template.cfm?Section=PRB and template=/ContentManagement/ ContentDisplay.cfm(ampersand)ContentID=4983 You are right fosse, the correct answer to the question as worded is American. However, I think we both know that really isn't the information biznessladee is looking for. The US birth rate is 14.2 births/1,000 population (2001 est.) and the immigration rate is 3.5 migrant(s)/1,000 population (2001 est.) See: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html

I just thought of something. If you add all the births with a Hispanic background to the number of immigrants, that number probably is higher. However, no matter your heritage, if you are born in the US you are American. It is the same in Canada.
