Subject: The Greatest Entertainers...
Date: Jan 05 07

Michael Parkinson (the UK's greatest chat show host) just made a program on his 10 greatest entertainers, they were, in no particular order :
Ken Dodd (UK comedian);
Frank Sinatra (US singer);
Elton John (UK singer and songwriter);
Barry Humphries (Australian entertainer);
Fred Astaire (US dancer and singer);
George Best (Northern Irish Footballer);
Billy Connolly (Scottish Comedian);
Louis Armstrong (US Jazz musician and singer);
David Attenborough (UK Naturalist/presenter);
Muhammad Ali (US Boxer).

He said they were in no particular order they were just the 10 people that had entertained him the most over the years. What list would you come up with.

Regards,

Tin

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Hard to say, but I am a little surprised that Parky didn't have Peter Sellers in there. His interview with Sellers is really a classic.

In no particular order, and ranging from my childhood to the present, my ten are...

Tom & Jerry (US animated cartoon characters)
Eric Morecambe & Ernie Wise (UK comedians)
Gerry & Sylvia Anderson (creators of "Thunderbirds" and others)
Dame Maggie Smith (UK actress)
Ronnie Barker (UK comedy actor)
Michael Flanders & Donald Swann (UK comic songwriters & performers)
The cast of "F Troop" (US sitcom from the 1960s)
Sir David Attenborough (UK naturalist & TV presenter)
Margaret Thatcher (UK Prime Minister)
Rudolf Nureyev (Russian ballet dancer)

OK, I know that adds up to more than ten people, but some of them you just can't mention in isolation!

I'd also like to give an honourable mention to my college Biochemistry tutor whose entertaining approach to a highly complex subject kept me fascinated (and in stitches) for two years.
