If you could travel to any period in time (not the future), and anywhere in the world in that period, where would you go, and what would you do?

j-zilch I would really like to talk to my great-great-great-grandfather about my family history. All of the records of that side of my family were victim to a fire in a local library.

There are many other things I could do but if I could just get the said information I'd be content.

Just wait until the future comes. You'll have your answer.

Bull_4 I'd like to visit a time when people knew their neighbors, and people would go to church more. One thing I hate about life today is hardly anyone cares about our planet or about God. Also it be nice if life was a little slower. And hard work really meant something. Nowadays everything is to easy and we hardly know each other and like I said God means little to nothing in this day and age. Which is something that makes me very sad.

Go back and watch the seven wonders of the world being built, discover the truth about Judge Crater and Amelia Earhart and Jimmy Hoffa, the Bermuda Triangle, Roswell, JFK, and such.
Visit all the major battles of history, talk with the people who made history through their achievements, live for a few years in Sherwood Forest, become an advisor to Winston Churchill and help him convince his government and the people of the western world
to crush communism in it's cradle.

See to it that Adolph Hitler was granted some God given artistic talent and be accepted into art school and become a world renowned artist.

I should dearly love to go back and watch Lincoln Cathedral, and others, being built. They contructed those magnificent edifices with childrens tools, heart and love.
Imagine men using the same tools and building like that today.

Greatguggly I'm with you, Bull 4. I might be in a better area for those things than you are. I do know and like my neighbors, I usually go to church on Sunday (sometimes on Wednesday too) and my work, and my wife's, seems to be paying off.

Greatguggly I'd like to go back to April 18, 1942, in Prime Minister Hideki Tojo's office when that filthy rat either hears the bombs from Jimmy Doolittle's raid or is informed of it.

ElusiveDream First stop: Late Cretaceous North America, see some dinosaurs.

Second stop: Italy, AD79. See Pompeii before it got wiped off the map.

Third stop: France, 1431. Prevent Joan of Arc's execution.

Last stop: North Atlantic, 1912. Prevent the deaths of as many Titanic passengers as possible.

Don't think time travel is possible, or someone from the future would have screwed up by now and we'd know about it. But if I could go back in time (temporarily), I'd like to find out where Ramses VIII, Herihor, and Alaric are buried; who really wrote Shakespeare (99.9% sure it was Marlowe); and who Jack the Ripper was. I certainly wouldn't want to live in any period in the past. We are living better now than at any time in history.

I would go back the 1960's and beg fashion designers to stop what they are doing.
I saw a TV show where a woman went back in time to kill Hitler as a baby. She becomes his nanny and throws him in a river, She then finds a homeless child and replaces the dead Hitler. Sadly this child was the insane one who did all the Hitler rubbish. So, if you do get into time travel do be ever so careful.

I would like to build a second time machine and go back in time to find the guy that stole my first one.

Hoping we would be protected bystanders, and presuming we could change nothing - back to the Big Bang, and then forward to the Dinosaurs, and perhaps to my Mom's childhood in Denmark
to be her friend - she needed one.
No desire to venture into the future.

Please take me back to Fishamble Street in Dublin, 13th April 1742, just in time for the first performance of Handel's 'Messiah.' Rumour has it that I'll have to leave my hooped petticoat at home though, so as to squeeze the 700 patrons into the small venue.
