There was a man from Tibet
Who kept a cricket as pet
In a bamboo cage
It was all the rage
It never needed a vet.

Haikus are awesome
But sometimes they make no sense

LOL I see what you mean. I don't know the haiku rules.
Limericks just come to me all day.
This weekend is fourth of July
For fireworks don't even try
There is a burn ban
All over this land
Just watch the TV and sigh.

OK 5-7-5
The rain falls gently
Thirsty earth swallows it up
Slowly heat recedes
Like that? Sorry mine made a little sense, I had heard that most haiku relate to nature.
Thanks for the explaination, I'll try to do a nonsensical one later.

LOL, that was PG rated? Very funny, I hadn't heard it before.
I never start with: There was a girl from Nantucket---disaster waiting to happen.

Drift down the bayou
Herons are fishing on shore
Peaceful twilight falls
Saints, I lived just north of Alexandria in a little town named Tioga for about a year. Beautiful country.

Postal, I live just north of Tioga in Grant Parish in Dry Prong. My ex is from Tioga! I see you from Conroe. I have family in Denton and Hallsville. My name is Roger, good to meet you. Here is a Limerick I wrote in 6th grade that was published in a book when I lived in Germany as a boy...
There once was a dirty old joker
Who did nothing all day but play poker
His wife found him out
And knocked him about
And so he got mad and choked her
For some reason I don't think they'd publish that today!

Oh yeah, your Louisiana Haiku was great! Either Limericks or Haiku, you are talented at both!

Thanks for the compliment on my "poetry".
I liked your limerick, no domestic abuse back in the day.
I'm dropping you a note.

My muse has drifted
Canst thou returnth me now
Or hast fled forever?
My attempt at the Queen's English. Yes, I have been to the odd Renaissance Faire.

Oh I did forget to mention I had a couple of my original "dog poems" published in Dog Fancy.
But not in a real poetry book. It is a minor brag I guess, nothing to put on one's tombstone.

Jazme, what has been a defining moment for you?
I doubt I'll do anything really great at the age of 60, but then didn't Grandma Moses start painting around that age?
But I won't be climbing Everest.

Let's speak of the girl withoutprospects,
Uncertain what she'd like to do in life;
If asked she'll say,
"A writer's life for me,"
But she can't seem to get the words rite:
Hasn't ota hing published.
She's got her short stories,
And a few poems and songs;
But it's just in the computer,
And sometimes she'll wonder,
"Is that really the way I want it?"
(I hope this poem answers the question-if not... maybe I'll try something else)

Let's now speak of the girl who loves words
Who can flip them and turn them and make them her own.
With a few words she expresses emotions that only a listening heart can hear.
Somewhere between girl and woman, finding her way in the world.
Let's watch at her "word-scriber" the machine that holds her blossoming works.
She types in scraps of thoughts and bits of dreams
Perhaps to publish? Always enriching.
Now comes a woman on the downhill side of life. Not old, but no longer young and bright with promise.
With words these two women play, each enjoying and admiring the style of the other.
Did I hear you Jazmee? If you don't submit your works, who can publish or know you? I really sense a talant. Fling it out to the world now and then, you maybe surprised.

P.S. I started writing my dog poems as part of a Christmas party talent show.
I was amazed that people seemed to think they were clever.
I never got paid anything but compliments, magazines don't really pay for poems.
Maybe I should follow my own advice, it been ages since I've submitted a poem.
