Topic: How did your day go my dear?

Subject: How did your day go my dear?
Date: Aug 21 08

Gentle but enlightening thread letting everyone know how your day was and how you are..

(As this seems to be a topic which many have enjoyed it would be a shame to lose it due to a technical glitch!)

Enjoy...

Oh, sorry again.

My day was outstanding and I look forward to more just like it.

Mo,

Aren't you even just a little bit interested what was on the disgustingly vulgar t-shirt that my power walking neighbor wore ? ;)

Actually, you would be horrified. You have good taste, while I appreciate the truly trashy things in life.

I am all a twitter as to what it said, actually.

I was trying to behave as I also asked romeomikegolf what his t-shirt read.

Want trashy information, please. Pretty please?

Perhaps "Powerwalkers eat yellow snow"? Gross, gross, gross.

I don't usually post on this thread, but late Monday morning, a former classmate of my son's was found dead from a heroin overdose.

11:00 in the morning, and here in Stepford, we had police from 3 surrounding villages and the FBI. People were whispering, "things like this just don't happen here". Uh, yes they do.

You can move to the suburbs for the schools, live in your big house and stare at your beautifully manicured lawn, but this town is very similar to the one portrayed in "The Ice Storm".

My son had no idea that this young man was using (he was 17). I had my suspicions - saw him a few days ago on the street, and he looked like he was really strung out.

The FBI? Do they routinely appear at the site of an accidental overdose? I cannot find any mention of this incident in my local news. It's not on Google News - it's as though it never happened.

The big news today was a delayed school opening. The school did not issue any communication that a student who had been part of the community for so many years had passed away. We have had several tragic student deaths, for such a small school district, over the past few years. He was just a junkie, I suppose. This boy didn't come from a wealthy family and no longer attended the local school, so who cares?

Not a great day. Perhaps today will be better, and people will speak of this waste of a young life, his grieving twin sister and parents. Then, they will reach out to them. I'm not hopeful.

No, he is not just a junkie. He is a son, a brother, a friend and a person. About the FBI, not a clue. I am curious.

Drugs are helping to destroy our world.

I am sorry to learn of this young man lost to the world forever.

My condolences to you, Cyd, and to your son and this young man's family. When will people realize that drugs don't solve anything and just create more issues.

Mo,

I know - sorry, my sarcasm was directed at the way in which I view the attitude that many people take when someone dies as a result of drug use. His life was somehow worth less than that of the state lacrosse champion. That's not well phrased, but I think you know what I mean.

Yes, ma'am. I understood you completely.

There is also a bad drug problem in my neck of the world and I am not a happy person about it. Just try to do something about your neighbors selling meth (and making it) and the police where we used to live just become stupid. Meth smells horrible and the smell just does not leave. I can now drive through a neighborhood and tell where it is coming from if there is a problem due to it in that neighborhood. Thankfully, some neighborhoods are still free of the problem. However, I pity the people who have meth cookers/users for neighbors.

Enough said.

Cyd, if we all died from doing foolish things at the age of seventeen I suspect there wouldn't be many of us left.

BxB #219 - So do I now, and I am too.

Gary, I wish you well again quickly, and better luck on Monday.

Cyd, I was with the sarcasm too. The boy's death is a tragedy, whatever labels the media gave him.

PS I had a pleasant day and was relieved to find the snow melted. It was 2 degrees at 3pm - 8 degrees higher than it had been at 3am! Didn't stop me going out, stocking up on de-icer and buying a new scraper.

Mo, happy first FT birthday. ((((()))))

Catching up lots of loose ends today. Two newspaper interviews have been done but no feedback yet so up in the air. More details if any come my way. I then mopped up a couple of old signs locally for my photo collection, did some shopping (our normal light bulbs have been banned from the end of this month so I have to stock up) and besides the hardware shop being closed (he never closes!) nowhere else had any already. One work booking followed by bits of housework, and as I was given an old desk for my room have been able to clear some of the office drawers so I can close them again properly.

Unless I get anywhere with the papers it won't be a very productive time, but these areas never run smoothly as I've found many times already.

Thank you, Lesley. The time has just flown by and I look forward to millions of more years in FT.

Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60s. Does anyone wish me to send some of our Colorado weather to you?

Professor - such a time you have had I am sad to see. I wish you the best and also hope for your good health to return.

Day was busy. Christmas is finally put away at last. Not that it matters in the outside world. Christmas was barely gone and Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's day decorations had already appeared.

Tomorrow plans are for two new shower heads and the bill is paid by the landlord. Yipee!

A few hundred years would be enough, I think!

It's a kind offer, Mo, thank you, but I'm OK with this level of cold. Yes, I know I'm odd, but anything above freezing is good. The only bit I don't like is if it drops a couple of degrees and everything gets slippy. Keep all the warmth you can, and enjoy it. People smile more when it's warm.

poneke Hey Prof!
Just spotted ya shout-out...Chin up big fella;-)

I know it's really cold your side of the planet(my grumbling rellies)so wrap up warm and sod going outside!
We're having the other extreme at the moment...heatwave. Sunblock doesn't help little freckly ones like me so I'm adjusting to looking like a lobster!

It was another glorious day around NZ, with temps breaking records and the school kids(on summer holidays) were even giving up and going inside. I wish the weather report would stop taunting me with promises of rain. . .

Now if I can figure out how to download the photos off my cellphone I'll be able to share the view from my 'Office'

s-m-w Super day… Relaxing long bath and a mud facial, back to work tomorrow but feel like a new man.
Enjoyed reading the interaction and merriment on the site after a work enforced absence. Good to see that the New Year continues to allow people to discuss topics of interest like grown adults without animosity. My adorable Bee has been to meet many of her forum friends and is still bubbling from the gossip…lol
Happy New Year to all and Happy posting.

It is a warm day and the plumber has already come, done his work, and gone. I am free (hello, Mr. Humphries).

I learned today Miss Brahms (Wendy Richard) is marrying for the fourth time. In addition, she has been diagnosed with terminal cancer so the wedding was date was moved up. The news of her cancer fills me with such sadness. So many wonderful people are leaving this Earth far too soon. I hope she remains with us for as long as possible. I shall miss her and remember her with a great fondness.

Happy wedding, dear Wendy. I know you will be a beautiful bride.
