Another hot and humid day here in deepest Oxfordshire. The Met Office has issued an official heatwave warning for the next three days with temperatures expected to hit at least 30 centigrade (that's 86 to those of us that still work in old money).

It is already 81 degrees here and it isn't even 9am. It is supposed to reach 106. This is a dry heat and I know the difference in dry heat and humidity after spending a week in Louisiana.

Today in South Korea, there is some respite from the heat. It's a pleasant 24 degrees Centigrade, which is the standard for Asia. I long for a brilliant thunderstorm.

How would you feel if an exceptionally lazy and slow-moving individual whose chief talent is yelling at people made false accusations that you don't do enough? I don't know whether to laugh uproariously or be insulted.

No yelling. No communication at all, but still manages to make me feel unworthy. I have many thoughts on how to deal, if things don't improve. Whether I'll have courage to carry them out, when the time comes, is yet to be seen...

We're in the midst of demolishing/rebuilding our patio. I am taking a break from loading rubble into a wheelbarrow, wheeling it to the front of the house, emptying it into a skip and repeating the process. I am hot, sweaty, covered in brick dust and my back is giving out some alarming twinges. I'm beginning to wonder what on earth was wrong with our old patio!
On the upside, if my back holds out, I expect the physical exercise will do me good and it saves a trip to the gym. took me about half an hour before I remembered suncream (it's hot and overcast here) so I expect I will be bright red later.

Back from a fantastic holiday in Devon - what glorious weather we had and it was terrific to see the two eldest grandchildren.
Pity the weather has changed, but, hey, that's an English summer for you. At least the plants in the garden are perking up after such a long dry spell.

A good day, but to explain why might be seen as bragging.

This is the 8th day of 100+ weather, topped one day by 112 degrees. It has been pretty miserable and it is expected to continue for a while.

So, this is about the weather? Well, heck, the weather here is hot. Hot. As always this time of year. However, I was hoping for a bit more. I mean isn't it always somehow comforting to hear other people's problems? You either think, "Dang, I am so sorry, but I'm glad that didn't happen to me?" , or "Good Lord, that happened to me too!" I mean, how bad could someones day be? VERY, VERY BAD! OR Very, very good. Or .........we could just comment on our weather. O.K. I'll start. Deep sigh. See, this is difficult sometimes. I mean how bad or GOOD could your day be? I mean someone could have been promoted or something. MY day........youngest son in Iraq, working on lesson plans for school, new puppy chewing rug in computer room, fed the ducks and geese two loaves of bread, (Canada Geese looking pretty shabby due to molting), both babies went to bed easily. See? Not so hard. Just chat. The weather? No.

Today is a day without any "have-to's" - except for noticing the very persistent cat in my lap, of course.
