s-m-v, Christmas tree all festively dressed? You dress the tree so long before Christmas? Is it an English tradition or is that just you?
We decorate the tree in the morning of 24th Dec. Fortunately dogs don´t climb the tree:)

Hi jolana, no hard and fast rule anymore, always used to be 12 days before and take down 12 days after, but this tradition like most other things is of little relevance in today’s hectic life.
Have a week off, so have used the spare time to get Xmas sorted, next week is dominated by training and the Company Awards Christmas ball (which covers 2 whole days with travelling and the overnighter) , so no, no traditional bearing just convenience.
Well today was a pamper day for both of us, sauna, haircut, facial and manicure and the such, all sorted.
Not much else planned (must check my Tux for next week) except chill time today.
Tomorrow we are planning to go over to Cirencester and wander through the Christmas market and do a little lunch.

Jolana, everyone I know has their tree decorated during the first week of December, but I'm noticing an increasing number of people using artificial trees. I have artificial trees but our main tree is always a live one. While growing up my father insisted the tree be decorated Christmas eve (his German heritage) but my Canadian mother protested so we quit decorating so close to Christmas. With so many children she had too many other things to do on Christmas eve.

Well, day four and the weather was wonderful, 4c sunny and crisp, who would have guessed?
The Cirencester Christmas market was well worth the 30 mins drive and the people visiting certainly had the holiday spirit. We both really enjoyed the chance to get those last few Christmas things in the wonderful setting of a Roman town dated AD 49 .
Funny thing about any of our outings is the importance of food, today was no exception we decided on the nearby village of Barnsley and the award winning “Village Pub” which has won many prestigious prizes.

Home now and enjoying a bottle of red and getting ready for the trip to Cambridge tomorrow and our lunch at the Bedford Swan (Bedford) with friends before travelling on to Cambs and enjoying the evening with the kids.
The night is booked at one of my favourite hotels in England, The Bedford Lodge, Newmarket,
http://www.bedfordlodgehotel.co.uk/
spending the day with the kids in Newmarket on Saturday before returning home Saturday evening.
Will finish my report of... a December week off on Sunday... see ya all then.

I got back from the shops and looked around here around teatime, and discovered the all round quizzer badge, five scores per category (19) of 90% or over within two months. The progress report said I'd played about seven already so thought I'd manage it in a day. I completed it twelve hours or so later, saw half way I may be up for endurance as it has been got with 20,000 points or so before, but today someone did 30,000 plus otherwise I could probably have managed it unless overtaken in the last few hours, but that would have been a real bonus. But now I know you can get endurance mainly by playing untimed quizzes as well as the quicker timed ones if you just keep going. I was extremely relieved we could leave out a category (video games) or I would never have managed it in a day. That's what winter is for really.

After spending 2.5 hours to drive 2.5 miles in a foot of snow with a side helping of black ice returning home tonight from work, perhaps I should be unhappy.
Funny thing is,that... this week I have enjoyed the ultimate in recognition from the industry I work in and my peers.
Life can be so very full of twists and turns!
Hope everyone has a merry Christmas.

I'm having a much quieter weekend than anticipated. We were due a visit from my Stepson and his wife, but his car broke down in the week and is not fixed, so that one has been postponed. Ma-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew were due to visit yesterday, but wisely abandonded all thoughts due to the snow.
Anyone want some cold gammon? I have lots.

Yesterday was wonderful. No.1 daughter and son in law braved the snow to come and see us. It was a bit fraught because of the weather but we kept in touch and they made it. We treated it like Christmas Day. Good food, even though I say it myself, we swapped presents and had a really nice day.

Took an hour to travel just a couple of miles to work because of the treacherous weather conditions.
Came home early to miss the new snow.
Sums the day up quite well mee thinks.

Merv yesterday, and two more people today, have asked me if they can get me anything while they're out - which I thought was really nice.
Jolana, how about cats climbing trees? Here's Simon's Cat climbing a Christmas tree.

Made an executive decision this morning, am not going to bother to spend an hour digging the drive free of snow. Am staying at home today, business will have to cope without my talents.

The snow has stopped, the roads are clear again around the county. Finally after 2 days of boredom we should be able to take one of the cars into town tomorrow. Not that we need anything, it is just soooooooo mind numbing sitting on the internet all day.

Lesley, nice one. Simon´s cat is one reason why I prefer dogs. However, Simon´s sister´s dog is a reason why I should prefer cats:)
