Topic: How did your day go my dear?

Subject: How did your day go my dear?
Date: Aug 21 08

Gentle but enlightening thread letting everyone know how your day was and how you are..

(As this seems to be a topic which many have enjoyed it would be a shame to lose it due to a technical glitch!)

Enjoy...

lesley153 They do that, Jolana. They look down their noses at you as you attempt to speak to them in their own lingua, then respond in perfect English. At least they did the last time I was in France... more than 25 years ago. Glad the rest of it was good.

Turbotude, it's only a couple of days since you said you were moving. You're fast! Is it a big move?

Lesley: I never thought I'd be thankful for having given away (or lost due to other circumstances) most of my "stuff". It's paying off, now! I hired a professional moving company to take care of it this time, and even though I'll feel somewhat stressed on Friday, I'll be better off knowing that these people are going to show up when they're supposed to, and will have to cover any damages they do to the property or my furniture in the course of the move.....unlike the LAST time I moved. "Friends" let me down on D-Day, then caused damages that I ended up having to pay for....beside paying these 'buddies' for the privilege of having them destroy what little stuff I have.

It's going to be good to have this over with....I've been trying to coordinate the logistics and pack, while working 10-hr days.

Turbodude, I think I didn´t mind switching weeks with you, because I love moving as much as travelling. My husband hates moving (we have moved about four times!) and he believes I am a descendant of some Avar or Hun raiders who were where I live several centuries ago and left some traces:)

Oh, I meant: I wouldn´t mind:(

lesley153 Packing and working long hours and unwell? How far are you going, and will it all get better when you've moved?

I'm trying to get rid of the junk that's been clogging my house for years. I'm currently tackling the cupboard under the sink. Half the contents of the cupboard filled the dustbin yesterday.

It goes without saying that anything that's rusty, or leaking, or gone hard, or needs washing, can go. There are a lot of unopened packages but I reckon, if I've had something so long I can't remember where and when I got it, and how to use it, it's probably not worth keeping. That's next week's full up dustbin taken care of!

Lesley: I'm only moving to another section of the city...about 20 minute's drive from where I am right now. It's all going to be better once the move is completed. The only "downside" is that I used to walk to work for my morning client.....now I'll have fuel expense, but what the heck. I don't think I'll have that gig much longer, as the man's 90 years old, weak and in end-stage Alzheimers. My part-time client is waiting for this man to either pass away or go to a nursing home so I can work full-time for her. Dang, I'm tired!

Jolana....I sure WISH we could have switched places! I HATE the work involved in moving....especially now that I'm no spring chicken!

lesley153 Turbotude, what do you do for your clients?

Good luck with the move - are you still in the throes of it, or are you in now?

Having a sprained ankle. Geez, that hurts! Though, that´s fine to be treated like a princess by my husband and son:)

Sorry to hear about your injury, Jolana! Enjoy the pampering while it lasts!

Lesley: I'm a private caregiver for 2 clients, and I my other clients are businesses who hire me to provide graphic design & printed marketing materials. The move is completed and I'm getting settled in.

Today was a pretty decent day!

lesley153 Goodness what an eclectic mixture! Which one drives you up the wall, and which one keeps your sanity?

Jolana, mend quickly but don't let your husband and son know.

LOL! Thanks all to your support, I am much better now limping around and trying to do something. My family is very supportive but their idea of a clean house is completely diferrent from mine:)

Lesley: Yes, indeed, it IS a strange combination of careers! The graphic design business came long before I "fell" into the caregiving 'profession' by a strange sequence of events. The graphic design no longer feels like a job, but is my 'sanity' now. Because of that, I feel my work is even better because it's relaxing and a lot more fun. Now, all I need to master is scheduling time to get it all done and have a "life", too. Still working on that!

Jolana: Of course your men aren't going to clean the nooks, crannies and woodwork....but that's ok. They get a chance to appreciate all you've done for them, and you get a much needed rest. Be a "princess" for as long as you can!

lesley153 Seconded. Being a princess beats worrying about a bit of dust.

Nice try, guys, but it´s not about a bit of dust but about cheese opening the fridge door and crawling slowly onto my plate:)

lesley153 It's when it runs out that you need to worry. I wonder, at what point do most men start to notice that they could do better?

I once reduced my son to helpless laughter when I reached into the back of the cupboard and brought out a potato with sprouts three feet long.

I had a pretty good day today. I hosted the food swap at my house and everyone was exceedingly generous with hostess gifts. Work is okay at the moment. Family is, well family.
