This astonishing move seems to have come from the parents, not the staff. Seems there was an art "event" at the school, and it was open to "members of the public" (otherwise known as paedophiles and axe murderers). Some parents were so alarmed at the prospect, that they kept their children away from school.
The sports day has been postponed till 29/6, to allow a bit more time to decide.
When is the cut-off age when Strangers stop representing Danger, and start being human beings that children are allowed to mix with? Ten - fifteen - twenty-seven - never?

We've had the wrong kind of snow, and we've had the wrong kind of leaves. Introducing, for the first time - the wrong kind of heat. Seems it's now too hot for trains to run.
"Heat on overhead power lines has caused the cancellation of trains from London Liverpool Street to Suffolk, and from Essex to London.
"The line speed has been cut in some places from 90mph to 60mph"

" Santander has said it is bringing all of its call centres back to the UK from India following complaints.
" Chief executive Ana Botin told the BBC customers had said it was "the most important factor in terms of the satisfaction with the bank". "

RMG, I'm going to be looking a polar bears in a whole different light, now! Maybe we'll see one cracking a Guiness to wash down that meal of seal.

What on earth is this about?
"Norway has been hit by twin attacks - a massive bomb blast in the capital and a shooting attack on young people at a governing Labour Party youth camp.
"At least seven people were killed in the bombing, which inflicted huge damage on government buildings in Oslo.
"At least 10 more died at the camp, on an island outside Oslo, police say. One witness said he had seen 20 bodies.
"Police arrested the suspected gunman at the camp and the government have confirmed that he is Norwegian."

Death toll is now 91, 7 in the bomb and 84 on the island. Gunman is a Norwegian national with connections to far right/Neo-Nazi groups. Scenes and eye witness reports on the news this morning are harrowing.

These acts of wickedness are almost beyond belief. My thoughts are with the whole country as it tries to come to terms with these tragedies.

Peeps, this topic is serious enough for its own thread. This thread is for those little stories that don't make the international news.

There has been a call today for Chinese Lanterns to be banned. Apparently they have been the cause of several fires recently when they have disintegrate and come down with the fuel pack still burning.
