USPECTED DRUNKEN DRIVER HOGTIED BY WITNESSES IN N.M.
A witness hogtied a suspected drunken driver in New Mexico when he pulled over after almost causing several head-on crashes, according to news reports.
Farmington police said Justin Canuto, 22, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 550 about 9:30 Sunday night, The Daily Times reports (via the Associated Press). Witnesses called 911 after watching him narrowly avoid several crashes, and followed him into a convenience store parking lot when he pulled over, a sheriff's official said.
When confronted, Canuto became belligerent and tried to flee, but an unidentified 26-year-old man tackled and hogtied him until deputies could arrive. Canuto was charged with drunken driving. The roper will not be charged.

"The roper will not be charged."
If that happened in the UK, the driver would get off with a caution and the police would have everyone out looking for the roper so they could charge him with common assault and (probably) actual bodily harm.
There was an instance of public justice gone wrong a few years ago, when a few people stopped a thief and sat on him till police came, but he died, so that wasn't a great success. Perhaps if the police had got there a bit faster he'd have lived to steal another day.

" The government has lost a House of Lords vote on its controversial plans to overhaul the NHS in England. Peers backed an amendment to the Health and Social Care Bill - demanding mental health is made a higher priority - by a margin of four votes. Several other amendments will be debated on Wednesday. "
" The government has offered more than 100 concessions in an effort to get the bill passed, but opponents say it should be dropped in its entirety. "

I saw that story about the home made lunches not being healthy enough. I think the school was way out of line.

It is way out of line when a government agent confiscates a 4 year olds perfectly healthy lunch made by her mother and makes her eat a government provided lunch. It is twice as bad when a government agent has the right to do this.

Yep, it is what America is coming to, by design. It's all wrapped up in Obamacare and them thinking they can tell you what you, your kids..everybody can eat. Soon they'll tell you how much sleep to get, when to smile, when to cry, what to think, when you can complain etc... The Democratic party in this country does not believe that Americans can run their own lives and even if they thought we could, they wouldn't let us.

Unfortunately, GG, you are right and it scares me to death. Whether or not it is Obamacare, what is going on in our once great America, carried out by the liberal media on behalf of a particular candidate is scary indeed.

This sort of thing has happened here too - lunch supervisors confiscating anything they decreed was unhealthy, and tipping fizzy drinks down the sink. If that had happened to any of the food I sent in, I would have been at the school and there would have been hell to pay.
I did hear one pathetic story about an older boy who went without lunch because of new safety regulations and no intelligent thought to accompany them. He had been taking a Pot Noodle to school every day (don't tell the Food Polizei) and adding boiling water at lunchtime. He wasn't warned that he could no longer be allowed access to boiling water, so he sat and nibbled a pot of crunchy bits.
Not one member of canteen staff had the brain or humanity to offer to do it for him. I think if I was that thick I'd kill myself except I probably wouldn't be able to work out how.

I rather like "Cup-O-Noodles (Here in the US)and I have it for lunch often.
It's terrible to think that the kid who brought the 'cup' wasn't allowed access to (god forbid) boiling water!

C'mon guys. Obamacare, liberal media? These kinds of things happened before Obama too. As far as liberal media, there's just as much conservative media out there. Heck, the report that honeybee posted was from a right wing group. It's not all black and white (lot's of grey inbetween). A lot of the mainstream conservative media and agendas scares me as much as the liberal ones scare you honeybee.

I agree with that Boxjaw, but it was all over the internet and anyway you look at it, it was way out of line and as I said before, exactly what America is coming to.
