The stupidest people in the country work for the federal government. And the stupidest people in the federal government work for the TSA. The worst are at the airport in Des Moines, Iowa. I think they are all reincarnated members of the Gestapo.

"That kind of thinking reminds of the hysterical old ladies in elementary school who would always blame the the bigger kid if a fight broke out. The smaller kid could have busted the big one in the head with a hammer...wouldn't have mattered."
How refreshing, then, in this instance to see the smaller kid taken to task by the hysterical old lady that is US airport security, and being administered such treatment that he was too terrified to withdraw, let alone use, his cleverly concealed hammer.
Let that be a lesson to all potential wielders of hammers.

Wasn't referring to the kid in the wheelchair. I was talking about poor little weak Saddam and Osama.

" Israel's Knesset approved a bill that would ban the use of underweight models in advertising. ... any ad digitally altered to make a model look thinner must say so in the advertisement. "
" The idea is to prevent young people from aspiring unhealthily toward impossible body-image goals. According to the law, models with a Body Mass Index below 18.5 would be prohibited from appearing in advertisements. "

The intent behind the BMI law is good, but I'm not sure it will be helpful. Young girls will still see pop stars and the like with bodies they aspire to, and gossip magazines are full of such images. Peer pressure plays a huge part -
my daughter was bullied for being at the higher end of her healthy weight scale and for the hideous crime of having red hair by a girl who looked like Vicky Pollard!
Anorexia is very complex and is all about being in control. My daughter's became really severe when she split up with her boyfriend and felt under pressure to excel in her 'A' levels. She's better now but at no time did she ever look at a fashion model and think 'ooh, that's how I want to look'.

Sounds like the best thing since "low-flow" showerheads!

Low flow showers aren't too bad, it's the low flow toilets that I despise.
