In order to try and prevent the boards getting clogged by threads that are read by many, but are rarely replied to, please post the interesting little news snippets in here.
This is not meant for major topics that will promote a discussion, but for the little oddities that you find in your local areas.
The first one below is an example. This was originally posted in Animals, but never had a single reply posted.

Please feel free to leave feedback for the site administrators. We will take all feedback into account as we tweak and add new features.
The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Camel milk will be the latest fad to hit supermarket shelves in the near future. Apparently it has more fat and protein in it so is a good staple food in hot desert countries. It makes a good low cholesterol cheese as well. Bedouins drink it as a medicine (also the urine, yuk) and Ethopians regard it as an aphrodisiac, although it will never replace Viagra I suspect. As to milking a camel, as someone who tried the experience when on holiday in the Egyptian desert, you do it very very carefully to avoid being injured by an irate and affronted camel.

For anyone wishing to try milking a camel, may I recommend that you first check the animal's gender? That could save a lot of pain. :))

C30 Oh dear Sal........this is a "family" site, but your post does throw up the possibility of some hilarious replies. which unfortunately the censor would disallow!

lesley153 Man threatens pizza delivery driver with knife, then relieves him of pizzas, money, tips, mobile phone, and vehicle. Victim knocks on a door to ask to phone for help, thief comes home, sees driver, runs away... but comes back later and this time the police are there too.

Perhaps this should go in the thread about listening to your inner voice, and it would, if I could find it.

Like they said on the police documentary recently, the clever ones don't get caught. Perhaps his inner voice should have said "don't you-know-what on your own doorstep".

I shall have to stop visiting this thread as I lower the tone!

Imagine the party conversation:

"And what do you do for a living?"

"I measure the testicles of bush crickets."

"Excuse me, I see someone I know over there."

Quelle horreur! I meant to post the previous message in a PM, Martin. I have asked Bob to remove it, but if another Mod happens along first, be my guest. (Where is a blushing smiley when you need one?)

After promising to bring Canadian troops home from Afghanistan in 2011, our less-than-illustrious PM Stephen Harper has changed his tune and is now talking about extending Canadian involvement unyil 2014, not in a combat ro;e but in a mentoring ro;e teaching Afghani troops and police their jobs. Canadians are not all that happy about this latest volte-face on the part of our PM - and I'm one of them. Seems that nobody has explained to Stevie that mentors also find themselves in harm's way.

lesley153 I can't begin to imagine how grateful the Afghanis will be, to foreigners telling them how to do their jobs. No, really I can't.

My objection to the war in Afghanistan is based on the fact that no one - not even Alexander the Great - ever won a lasting peace in that part of the world. To date 156 Canadians have lost their lives, a higher percentage than any other of the NATO forces serving there, and the majority of them were in their mid-twenties and younger. A stupid waste of young lives in an unwinnable war. John Lennon was right, it's time to give peace a chance!
