Wait a sec, I'm the fishing freak here R.J.! As a matter of fact, I'm taking off the 5-11 of April and will be in the Mountains trout fishing and maybe some walleye. Then May start to hit the saltwater hot and heavy through the fall! Got to love living on the coast here!

I used to go fishing with my dad. We would catch flounders, plaice and eels. The best place for fishing was off the sea wall at the back of Heysham Harbour - it was very close to the cooling water outlet from the nuclear power station so the sea temperatures were warmer and you could get some pretty big fish. We also used to go shrimping down on the beach, following the tide out.

We fish in the creek that's our Back Fence!
Usually perch and yabbies, the odd eel if we're unlucky (shudder...errg) - and then there's the sand bank with yummy clams!
I've been 'prawning' - but standing in waist high water in the Channel to catch the little darlings is not my idea of an entree! And so to the Co-op I go!
Used to go fishing with my uncle off the jetty when I was very small - seemed we always Just Fed the Fish! LOL

I never caught an eel and I hope that trend continues. I agree with Scott, nothing like fishing to relax and let the mind drift. Just you the pole and the pole and the ebb and flow ;-)
Have fun fishing Scott! I'll expect some details when you return.
Julie somehow I can't picture you fishing? But I would have never guessed you for a bronc rider either, missing teeth and all ;-)
Jane I'm easy with as a fisher women.

This is where we part company sweetheart!
As a vegetarian for the last 30 or so years, I don't eat fish, so I wouldn't catch it either.

I once caught a 3lb plaice, while all my dad managed to catch a crab. We took the plaice home and ate it - very nice.
I can do bronco riding too, Herbie used to love immitating a spinning rocking horse - buck, rear, spin etc - he never managed to throw me off.

Hey no worries Jabberwok! I won't hold it against you ;-) I wonder why people are veggies most say it's because they love animals. I love animals too ;-)

Hi Jane,
I had to look up Plaice. If it taste anything like Flounder or Sole it must have been great. Glad you enjoy fishing.

Flounder tastes a bit earthy for me, Plaice is a lighter tasting fish.
Most of the fish in Morecambe bay are either Plaice, Flounders (or Flukes as we call them) and Eels, but at certain times of the year there are salmon about. Unfortunately you are not allowed to catch them unless you have a special license, they get smuggled ashore in various ways but the water bailiffs are always around during salmon season.

It's a choice I made, I can live without killing something to eat it. Put me in a survival situation, and I'd be hunting, shooting and fishing with the rest of you.
My children aren't vegetarian, they haven't chosen to be.

Did you know that fish only eat twice a day?
Just before you get there, and just after you've left.
TRUE :)

How do you reckon they know when we're there and when we've left? Seems like if they were that keen they could eat often as they wanted before and after we showed up?
Anyway, good chatting with you mate. Drop in any time. These gals are too busy or got a case of lock jaw. ;-)
I catch a few fish. They must be the ones cheating on their diet regime.

Don't get me wrong, Jabberwok. I respect everyone's right to choose and I admire you for choosing not to kill animals but what do have against vegetables? ;-)
Just goofing around.

Absolutely nothing, I try and eat as low down the phylogenetic scale as possible, but I can't photosynthesize so...:)
I grow a lot of my own stuff, it has a happy life and is well-treated up to the moment of slaughter.

I couldn't kill or eat any of my own animals because they're pets, but I have no problem with farm animals because if they weren't there to provide food they wouldn't exist in the first place.
The only thing I eat that has anything to do with my animals are eggs. You can't improve on the taste of a newly laid free range egg.

A person's gotta eat, so if a few plants have to live shortened a shortened existence, so be it.
I have a nice garden too but I give most of it to St. Vincent De Paul's. It's way too much for me and it's one way I can help others. ;-)
The admin still trying to track you down? Watch out, Jabberwok, they may be looking for a scape goat!
As always, a pleasure chatting with you ;-)

I liked that clip. There's a chap who sells excellent chocolate pancakes on Westminster bridge opposite Big Ben, boy and I always end up there when we've been up for the day.
We love Westminster Abbey, all the tombs in particular, and my father-in-law was a fire fighter in the war, specifically the London Docks.
He painted a picture of St Katherine's Docks on fire. When he got home from the shout his mother told him off because his jacket had little holes burned in it and she was worried about how many clothing coupons it would take to replace.
The painting shows a wall of flame over 100 feet high.
