Let's pretend I'm planning a tour of the world, but I can only spend a day in each country. Where would you, as my host, take me to see the most spectacular sight - or site - on your native heath? For instance, if you were coming to Canada and had only one day here, I'd make sure that you saw Niagara Falls (the Canadian side, of course, which is the most awe-inspiring). Here's your chance to do your bit for tourism in your country.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

In Pennsylvania, I'd head over to either the Appalachians or the Poconos- if you want to hike, pick Appalachians, if skiing is your forte, go with the Poconos. Both are gorgeous.

naerulinnupesa Well, naturally I would invite you to climb our ash hill near Kiviõli. The sign says it's the highest one in the Baltic States, some argue with that, but the view from the top is amazing. If you turn your face to the North, you'll see the Baltic Sea, a few islands, villages (including mine), fields and more ash hills. And that's what you'll see in the South (orange and white building on the right is my old school):

Then we'd go East, to the city of Narva and explore its famous stronghold. (We may stop on the way to see the Valaste waterfall or to walk in the Toila-Oru Park.) There are actually two strongholds, one in Estonia and the other across the river in Russia - as you can see in this picture. On the right there is Estonia and on the bridge there is the infamous queue of cars waiting to cross the border.

Funny observation from visiting the castle: the statue of Lenin standing in the yard pointing towards... the lavatories. :D

If you travel to NW PA, you will definitely want to check out Presque Isle State Park. It is about 12 miles in length, has many wonderful beaches, great variety of native wildlife, as well as scenic walkways scattered throughout. A truly great escape on any bright, warm, summery day :)

sportsherald Like many other places (but more so), Canada is so large, it's hard to pick one thing to see. There's more than enough in ALberta alone to fill several days. I haven't yet been to Niagara Falls, but Edmonton has a higher artificial waterfall on its High Level Bridge (when the water's turned on).

Norway is beautiful, so for me it is the countryside rather than any 'thing'. There is a headland near where I live called 'Verdens Ende' (which means World's End) which is just gorgeous.

merrijig Nothing to see in Melbourne, Australia. It's just like any other big Western city, overpopulated with Macdonalds franchises.
