Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but as others have alluded to, when there's a Fun Trivia badge in the offing, reading gets put off.

Danielle Steel is one of my favorite authors. However. there are many to choose from. Funtrivia--sometimes takes the place of TV and reading.

Reading is not a hobby of mine, the only book I read on a regular basis is the Bible. Occasionally I will read a non-fiction book of interest or something I want to learn about. Don't see the point in reading fiction, I like facts!

I love to read. I don't get to read as much as I would like. Stephen King, Dean Koontz, David Baldacci, John Steinbeck, Dan Brown, and John Grisham just to name a few of my favorites.

Reading used to be a favorite but the computer and Fun Trivia have taken over. Still read a lot. Like Jeffrey Deaver very much.

Amongst other things, I love to read before I go to sleep.

Jeffrey Deaver, Baldacci, Patricia Cornwell, Martin Cruz Smith, Preston & Child, getting into basic physics, chemistry and other subjects we were not offered in school. Any well written mystery will keep me turning pages. Tried again to read Ulysses {Joyce, not Homer} and gave up.

I love to read. Even if you don't gain a lot of factual knowledge you can usually learn to see things from a different perspective or pick up new, clever writing techniques.

If I had to choose between reading and FT... sorry, but bye bye FT !
Prefer Australian writers, followed by Irish or English.

Enjoy reading, find it relaxing. Would recommend Irish author James McGahern if you enjoy Irish literature, maybe you've already read some of his works.
If you might recommend a couple Australian authors works I'd appreciate that.

Aedan, one of my favourite West Australian writers is Tim Winton. Patrick White, Thomas Keneally and Robert Drewe are three Australians worth having a look at.
Women writers, Liz Byrski would top my list, closely followed by Monica Macinerney.

I like to read before going to sleep because I'll often dream about what I was reading. Just a few days ago I fell asleep reading a book about youngsters fighting in the American Civil War and then dreamt that I was a kid with a rifle walking around, hoping not to get killed. Hmmm...where can I find a book about becoming king of the world?

Reading is more than a hobby to me; it's a necessary part of my life. I take a book with me everywhere, and as I watch little TV, I have even more time to read. I read mostly fiction, primarily mysteries, thrillers, and fantasy. A lot of series fiction and YA novels in recent years.

I really enjoy reading, although I'm very busy a lot of the time. And whatever free time I have is mostly spent on this computer. I manage to sneak in several minutes before I go to sleep, though.

Absolutely! I have a wall full of books and my daughter gave me a Kindle Fire for Mothers Day this year, so have been loading that with e-books, as well.

I go through streaks of reading a lot, then not much at all. I borrowed a Kindle from my mother (she got the Fire) and I've been reading more. Tend to like non-fiction most; biographies/memoirs and war history. I do read some fiction as well though, but mostly old "classics" once in a while.
