The only time I wear socks is when it's cold enough to leave the heating on all night and I still think I'm at risk of frostbite. Mercifully not too often, although more frequently, thanks to global warming.
The last time I did that, I slipped on a pair of my son's socks. It's OK, he was on London, so he couldn't see, and I may not tell him.
They were black rib, with the maker's name embroidered on the ankle, on opposite sides.
I don't think we have a ban on product placement here but, just to be on the safe side, I had better not name the brand. But, if anyone's interested, it begins with pr and ends with ingle.

I sort of have left and right socks when one gets a hole. I put the holey one on whichever foot stops my big toe from going through it.

Hmmm. Once you pop, you can't stop... probably the other way round. But there is a connection, because Jensetter has taters in her toes!

Barefoot again today. But tomorrow, I will be wearing my Jack Sparrow socks. Hot pink with Jack Sparrow outlined in black. Will I be a sight to see or what?

Sounds fun.
Nice to see they have Pringles in the UK Lesley.
Makes me think of a new "safe" category in food/
hobbys.

Yes, we have Pringles. Have had for years. We're quite civilised here... in some ways. Not many, I promise. :)

Afterthought: does everyone refer to holes in socks as potatoes or taters, or is it just Britain, or some bits of Britain... or was it just my family?

Maybe just your family? Ha! I've never heard that saying before.

We call holes in socks taters/potatoes too, Lesley. Maybe it's just a British thing.

I'm glad you've heard it too - I was beginning to think I'd imagined it!

Isn't it nice! You don't see knee socks that often. At least, I don't. Are they a fashion statement?
