Grey and white check with little red scottie dogs. Style magazine here I come.
Sad thing is that it is cold enough to wear socks - it's supposed to be summer here.

This is an endlessly fascinating subject, which must surely arouse strong emotions in many, and yet there has not been a hint of dissent at any point. This, I think, must make it the perfect thread: intellectually challenging, of interest to everyone, and intelligently conducted. There is hope for the chat boards yet!

"Can you believe that we have 5 pages of this..."
Yes, of course, quite easily. The sort of people who come to FT are attracted by the challenge to their intellect, but are kept here by the interaction with other like-minded people. What better form of human interaction than a good challenging debate?
Why are flip-flops sad, funnybuni?

I was wearing plain white socks, right up until I stepped in dog-do. Dang puppy! I still love him though.

"Why are flip-flops sad, funnybuni?"
Because as a result of wearing them, I rarely wear socks!

I wear flip-flops all year round in the house and wear socks with them if it's cold. Why not?

Really... socks with flip-flops? Yikes. Don't your socks get all bunched up or wedged between your toes??? My feet suffer from claustrophobia. (They'd be like... Let Us Out! Let Us Out!)

The bunching between the toes is not too bad provided the socks are not very thick. I prefer my feet to be free, too. Someone bought my daughter some of those toe socks and she found them quite uncomfortable, but I would buy some with just the big toe separated if I could find any in the UK.
Today's socks - white with red toe and heel.

I hated toe socks. Just try getting them into a shoe.

Yeah, a friend of mine gave me a pair of those toe socks. I put one of them on, and wanted to scream. (I gave them back to her, no hard feelings, they ae cute but she should go ahead and wear them as it didn't seem to bother her at all.) I still can't imagine what it would have felt like to put the toe socked foot into a shoe! Eeek!
