War also stimulates technological development - how long would it have taken to get penicillin into large scale production?

Peace and the free market also stimulate technological production. Just because there are some useful by-products of war doesn't mean it is a good or efficient way to develop technology.

I don't like war. I just got news that my nephew, Josh, was wounded in an ambush in Afghanistan.

The most interesting aspect of The 100 Years War is that it took 116 years to fight it.
