Subject: Five Places You Have No Desire to Visit
Date: Jun 10 09
We've got a thread on places we'd like to visit, so I wondered if there were any places in the world you wouldn't go, even if time and money proved to be no object.
Here's my list of the top five places in which I hope never to set foot:
Antarctica - I can get all the snow and cold I want (or don't want) right here at home, so I have no need to travel around looking for new places in which to freeze;
The Middle East - anywhere in that unsettled and unsettling part of the world would unsettle me, big time. I do my best to stay out of harm's way;
The Amazon Basin - I'm not a big fan of humidity and excessive heat, so that's out;
A cruise to anywhere - the thought of being confined on a ship, no matter how luxurious, with a horde of middle-aged and older strangers all bent on having the time of their lives gives me the willies;
Colombia - at least, not while the drug lords are running the show;
Nigeria - because I'd probably be clapped up in some ecclesiastical jail for saying rude things about Peter Akinola.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the
announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out
of something in some manner.
