I found a dog running around all the gardens on his own the other evening. He was a big friendly black labrador, with a collar but no name tag and he looked like my neighbours dog, so I ran out my door and called to him and he came with me readily. It wasn't my neighbour's dog so I took him back to my house, where he ran off, I took it to his own house. A little boy did the same thing as me and thought it was this neighbour's dog and she phoned the dog wardens. What a sin, letting such a gorgeous dog out on his own, where he could have got knocked down or worse. Seemingly the dog wardens try and reunite them with their owners but it will cost the owners to get him back. In a way it would be better if another kind soul adopted him, as his owners obviously don't care enough. Why do people get a dog if they're not going to look after it? Such a shame.

animelover33 I've had a stray dog wander into my backyard when our gate was open. He was very friendly but shortly returned to its owner gleefully.

animelover33 oh yeah. I forget to mention. Despite his small size, he tried to kill me.

Small dogs have a Napolean complex. Watch your ankles and knees.

If these dogs have a Napoleon complex and so bite your ankles I think you should don a pair of Wellingtons ;)

sasha67 A sweet little bassett cross showed up at my door one day when I went to get the mail, she just walked right in my house. I called the shelters and vets to see if anyone reported a dog missing. No one did. So now her name is Sadie and shes my dog.

ElusiveDream During the 10 years my family & I lived in our previous house, I brought home 4 stray dogs: 2 German Short-Haired Pointers, a scruffy white Terrier who looked like he needed a good bath & an Alaskan Malamute.

Greatguggly My dog has gotten loose a few times in his 10 years. That doesn't make me a bad owner, it happens. Also, they won't just give the dog back? The people have to pay? I could understand that if it was a chronic problem but otherwise, I don't get it.

Dogs are great escape artists. My next door neighbour has yorkshire terriers and a 6ft fence, yet I've found them in our garden where they've dug under the fence to get through. Susie can open any door that isn't physically locked and she's worked out how to open her outside run, I have to put a padlock on chain on it to stop her.
