I will go with the rose. It may be such a common choice, but so many great people and historical events can be tied into this great flower aside from the aesthetic reasons that make it so beloved.

Of course it is roses, but just not any old rose, my favourite is Mr. Lincoln, a gorgeous dark red with an absolutely wonderful perfume.

Lilacs, lilies-of-the-valley, almost anything purple, daisies, cornflowers, Queen Anne's lace, wild strawberries. Sunflowers.
Creeping myrtle and phlox, blue hydrangea, wisteria.
