WHOA! Speaking of religion, I had no idea we've already had 27 more quizzes since it hit 1,000 recently!

GTC's complete retelling of the New Testament seems to be fairly popular. ;)

For me, the hard part about animals was finding something interesting that wasn't already overdone or verging close to overdone. There are really only so many interesting questions you can ask about dogs or whatever.
I'm sure you could make some sort of challenge out of this, Kyle :p Like a challenge to provide inspiration or ideas for those categories that are people are 'afraid' of :)

What, just because it's the most inactive hour on the site, people have to stop talking? !

I'm writing quizzes. Seems to be popular around here. ;)
Finishing up some of my newer templates, pretending to be bored with the old ones. Nothing new, really. I might start my Christmas Carol quiz.

LOL, Kyle, I have to ask: is there a reason that two of the categories you're afraid of are the categories in which I edit?
I think Humanities is broader than most people realize; no need to tremble. :-) There's something for people who like musicals, people who like art, people who speak English (wait, that's an awful lot of us!), people who have read mythology, and people who have had to take social sciences classes as part of their breadth requirements in college. I bet you can find something!
Religion has a bit less breadth, but there's still lots of room -- you needn't ask just about religious beliefs or just about prayers or what have you. There's also quizzes on people famous for their contributions to religion, and quizzes on the history or development of religions. There are even a few quizzes on the demographics of religion, and I had one a while back on languages used in religion.
OK, my little advertisement is over. Back to your regularly scheduled thread!

And in the spirit of the thread -- I've got ten quizzes in progress, including the Christmas carol one. Among other things, I'm working on a few series of quizzes; #4 out of 26, #2 out of 11, #10 out of 12, and #7 out of 26. Some of those series have been stalling for quite a while (read: years), but I've got places to go and people to see! One of my goals for the month (ok, next several months) is to make serious progress knocking some of those series out, but only one of them is "easy" -- that 11-part series easily takes a couple of hours per question, on average -- and the singleton quizzes are appealing, too.

I have 17 categories covered at the moment. The three I haven't touched yet are Brain Teasers, Religion and Sci/Tech. CD will be delighted (or more likely horrified) to hear that I'm currently working on my first Religion quiz as part of the Christmas Carol challenge.
I also have a Sci/Tech quiz in a very basic stage of development. Though I have a template set up for a Brain Teaser quiz, I'm still without inspiration for what to do with it. Any suggestions will be gratefully received!

That would be "delighted." I've been an editor for a long time. It takes a lot to horrify me!

...and those of us who took nothing BUT social science/humanities classes and now still have to live in our parents' houses. ..Just me? :p

Haha, I agree, the humanities category is much broader than people realize. There's something for everyone in there. ;-) I think people just get tired of all the musical and mythology hourlies, and they don't realize humanities has other stuff to it. ;-) lol.
And think about people IN the Bible to write about, too. I just got one online about Timothy (thanks, CD), shocked to see that he had only 2 quizzes... And they were for his books, and not Timothy himself. lol.
Of course, Peter and Paul are covered quite nicely... But there are plenty of other Bible characters yet to be covered. :-)

Just checked my stats, and I've got 13 categories covered. I'm dying to get 15, but I've hit a dead end! I can see a Sports quiz in my future (*maybe*), but I'm hopeless for Animals, Sci/Tech, History, Geography, People, and Celebrities, lol. So, for now, my goal is to have a QQ entry in all available categories. :)

A note for people intimidated by Sci/Tech: I think that, much like Humanities, a lot of players don't realize the breadth of this category either. For example, there's a large Health & Human Biology section, which includes medicine, diseases, nutrition, and other health issues. I think a lot of people know a little something about the symptoms of the flu, or what to expect in a doctor's office, or at least would feel less intimidated researching those kinds of issues.
There are also quizzes on Botany -- not gardening, but wild plants you might encounter on a hike through the woods, say. Or quizzes on the weather, dinosaurs, computers, the Internet ... It's not all college-level chemistry and physics. There are a lot of more "popular science" topics out there, as well.

I can probably find a way to squeeze into Humanities. I wanted to write a quiz on Rhetoric (English Major spills onto the template) but some of the ones we have are really quite all-encompassing.
Religion's still my dead zone. I'd _really_ need to dig for that.

I'd say to anyone intimidated by the prospect of writing for the sci/tech to throw caution to the wind and go for it! Kyle recently made a sci/tech quiz about (I think it was) Apple's 'iPod'. Your quiz doesn't have to be on recessional velocities and Hubble's constant if you don't want it to be. Though that seems like a fun idea for a quiz! :)
My contribution to the religion category was on atheism - I will just say I had one or two messages of disapproval! I can't see myself writing for the category again because I know so very little about it. It is nice to see the religion category expanding though (see what I did there! Hubble...expanding...)!

I have to agree with the swami that I think there should be a badge for have written a quiz in all 20 categories. It would be quite a challenge even to those hard core authors:)

I've been toying with a humanities quiz (Aussie strine) for quite a while, but sorry CD, it may never make it to the site. There are so many quizzes on our slang already, that I really don't think I could do one that doesn't repeat at least a couple of sayings already.
I'll keep playing with it though, because you never know... :)
