Are you a fast typer or do you take a long time to find the keys you need?

j-zilch I'm a fast typer but if you asked me to use all my fingers I'd be lost. LOL

God Bless, Jimmy

I'm a fairly fast typer, but I do sometimes make speeling mistakes if I rush.

When I got the Fill Me In badge in 52 seconds, I'd say that's a good example of a fast typer, especially with those difficult questions! I was elated!

52 seconds? Wow!

lout62001 I am a relatively slow typer resulting in some poor efforts on FT and thus the inability to get cettain badges.

I am typing this very slowly as I know you can't read very fast. lol

Seriously I don't think I'm to bad, I can use two fingers on each hand

I'm fast, but I HATE the QWERTY keyboard layout. Most of what I regularly use is on the left or awkwardly located.

Mariesgirl If I try and type fast I usually make mistakes so I dont type fast as it will just cost me points in the long term, by the time I go back and correct my mistakes lol.

I grew up before computers and began typing on a manual typewriter! After that, today's keyboards are quick and easy.

I was trained as a touch typist back in the days of manual typewriters so I am fairly fast. I doubt if I could use a manual keyboard now, the pressure you used to have to exert on those keys compared to electric typewriters and now computer keyboards is immense.

I am average because I only use one hand.

Same as Christap. Did you also have an apron to hide the keys? Those were the days lol

Yep, that's about right. LOL - I've used the computer about half of my life and I still look for letters on the keyboard... plus I don't even know what some of the keys are for. I'm an average typer I guess, and as I've just noticed I use both hands for typing. Considering my experience, there is room for development :)

i guess I'd rate myself as fairly fast. I had a typing class in high school (way back then!) and I've always had some typing to do so I remember where the keys are. It's a lot easier with a computer keyboard than a typewriter.

I'm a reasonably fast typist too. Like Christinap and Playmate I learned to touch type on an old manual typewriter. All of the keys were covered in plastic colour push-on tops. Four different colours for the 4 fingers and the thumb was used for the spacebar.
Each finger had a different colour cap. Now I can type well but if I look at the keyboard whilst I'm typing I will make loads of mistakes. It was a clever, simple way to learn to type. And yes, to go from typing on a manual machine to a computer keyboard is so much easier and less stressful on the hands/wrists.

I'm pretty fast, but I make a lot of mistakes.

Playmate - yes we had the keys covered with an apron so you couldn't see them, and we used to have to type to music so that we had a good even rhythm as well. My very first job we used to have speed tests once a month and you were expected to type at least 50wpm with absolutely no mistakes. If you made a mistake it was 5wpm deducted for each error.

I type fast, even though I only use one finger per hand for the letters. I use the right hand thumb to tap the space bar, and the index fingers for things like shift, tab etc.
