Ooh lots of hugs!
Relax, Gary. I didn't find out how you were - I didn't even ask, because I knew they wouldn't tell me.
All I did was find out where you were. I rang Lincoln General, said that someone with your name and date of birth had gone to get blood test results on Friday, and hadn't been heard of since. He lives in Lincoln so I assumed it was that hospital.
They said yes, but we can't tell you why he's in or how long we're likely to have him for - and that was it. They don't call me Miss Marple for nuffink!
So I didn't get any concrete information, but at least it put paid to the speculation that you might have been abducted by aliens.
I imagine your family has its own way of getting information. It's called the hospital computer system. |

How lucky to have a family for support, Professer! I used to....
Lesley, sorry, this blog is for you. Hope you're having a tip-top evening!

I am, thank you, having a perfectly delightful evening. I have run and emptied the dishwasher and am about to hang up my third laundry load, which is a lot for me to have managed in one day, although trying to respond to messages and emails is still beyond me.
Jonathan is coming home late tonight or, more likely, early tomorrow morning for a couple of days. Tomorrow we'll get some money and some shopping, and on Wednesday he will drive me to see a new doctor - first appointment at my new practice, but not my allocated GP. Then he'll go back to London to complete his handover.
After that, it may not be long before I'm told I can drive again. That'll be nice. :) |

Thanks, both - me too!
Jonathan rang at 10pm, ten minutes ago. He's driven back from the wilds of Berkshire to his flat near the Post Office Tower, and says he still feels quite fresh, so he'll have some coffee and food and see if he feels up to driving here tonight. If he does, he won't have to be up with the birds' dawn coughing chorus to avoid the zone-boys and the congestion charge, and I stand a good chance of getting a goodnight cuddle.
Glossary:
Zone-boys are the amoral articles who fine you for traffic transgressions, even when you haven't transgressed. Horror stories abound, like the emergency ambulance which got a parking ticket for imperfect parking while the crew were trying to revive someone, and any number of people who park on an unmarked road, and come back to find that they have had two visitors in their absence - a yellow-line-painter, and a zone-boy who has given them a ticket for parking on yellow lines.
Congestion charge is the relatively new tax on most non-public vehicles driving in or through central London on weekdays till early evening. I don't think it's made any difference to traffic - people who want to or need to do the drive will still do it, they'll just have to pay for it - it's just another nice little earner. |

Thanks for the glossary; you're such a dear! Did you know/sense that at least one of us was sitting here befuddled by those terms?

| I didn't know but it was a safe bet. Zone-boys is an informal name for parking wardens or traffic wardens. It's only mildly disparaging - it doesn't go anywhere near expressing the revulsion we feel for these appalling creatures. |

| He's staying in London tonight and making an early start. Probably very wise - he could get half-way home and start drooping. I bet he'll get back here early and crawl into bed. |

So I won't get any bedtime cuddles, but perhaps VM will consider getting her Niles Crane hanky out, and waving it at me?
Confession: I thought I'd written that hours ago, but my brain let me down. It does that, more than I care to admit.

He left his flat at six o'clock this morning (oy!), stopped half-way at seven o'clock to do a supermarket shop, got here at half-past nine, filled the fridge up with the most mouthwatering food... and fell into bed. |

| Lunch, which he has made, is sandwiches of proper viennas in light rye bread with caraway seeds. And then there is fruit... |

Lovely Lesley enjoy the pampering from your son and relax is good for you. Just done my 2nd bout exercises given by physio.
Am unsure what to cook for my main meal fancy fish n chips but chippy here is rubbish best one is to far to walk to. So may do pasta ham and cheese or nip back to shop buy some bean sprouts a stir fry sauce and chicken brest do a stir fry.
Glad Jonathan is taking good care of you and keeping the larder and fridge stocked. How did new doctor visit go?
