Thanks, Gary. What a good imagination you have! Or was it because I said that I didn't need to post a photo because my South-Park-style facebook avatar was a good likeness?
Three real-life people so far have told me that I look better than they expected, and then wondered if it was all right to say that. You bet it's all right. I'm not going to ask them "Did I look that bad before?" - I'm going to be delighted at the improvement and thrilled to bits at the fact that anyone has noticed. |

You can judge how people look from the way they talk? that's clever!
Glad you're feeling good. |

Professor's claim to be able to judge how someone looks by the way they talk on the boards is quite fascinating, Lesley.
Might make a good challenge thread. Not joking, it would be intriguing.

Trojan, I agree, it would be an enjoyable and enlightening experiment. Will you set it up?
I too have guessed what people look like, from their written word, or from phone calls, and I've been right at least twice in the last twenty years. I hope you're impressed. :p |

| Gary, I've just double-checked your blog, and there doesn't seem to be anything about how you're looking and feeling, or about your proposed tests. Wouldn't this sort of news be more sensibly posted on your blog than on mine? |

Hi Lesley! Glad to hear you are recovering well, lessening your meds and climbing steps like a champ! I look forward to reading your blog again :)
As for me, I found a place I can get into in a few months for a second opinion about my back. I nixed the idea about going to the U.S. for a consult. An initial assessment at the Mayo clinic had them thinking surgery, which meant something I couldn't afford.

Ooh Squisher! Good to see you again - where have you been? I lost track of the last time you were on but you'll have a bit of catching up to do.
I'm sure your wallet will be very happy with your decision to stay away from US medical bills. One day, Jonathan and I will add up the cost of the medical treatment we've had, and compare it with the cost of a small island.
You could start a pretend blog of your own here, and use it to chart your progress to recovery. Shame you can no longer post your drawings on these - I miss the control of the real blogs and I miss the sketches, paintings and photographs. Ah well - there's always facebook. |

The exhibit started with the history of the cocoa bean and had many artifacts of Mayan drinking cups to drink coco froth. It was a bitter drink as it took the europeans to add sugar and milk. However it was deeply loved and the beans were used as money. Now most of the beans are grown in africa. The history of bean production is bloody and even now filled with controversy about poorly paid labor. Ah how we humans treat one another.

Execrably, most of the time. Isn't it getting better, as coffee production is supposed to be getting better, or is that a global con?
I heard stories of cargoes of cocoa beans, worth a fortune, being dumped overboard because the crew didn't think anyone in their right mind would be interested in such nasty-tasting beans. It's all right - we know better now. :) |

| PS Garry, you haven't got round to telling us about the chocolate you bought. Surely it's not a memory already? |

I bought two kinds, one was a swiss chocolate, very dark with pecans, it lingers on the tongue forever, the other was an argentine milk chocolate light and airy it was good, but I am still thinking about the very dark and yes it was gone so fast that I regret not buying more. I only wish I could have shared it with you.

| Are you still thinking of visiting England? Perhaps if you do get here we'll be able to share chocolate. If you're going to travel round the UK, you can think about taking the Cadbury World tour in Bournville, near Birmingham. Fish and chips and chocolate - nothing better. |

I hate to agree with an Englishwoman, but there is something better in your country than fish and chips and chocolate. I'm thinking along the lines of a wonderful high tea I had once in York. It made a gray day brilliant. (I'm thinking that many days in York are gray; am I right?)

All right, I'll let you have that one. Altering a typo is OK if it changes the sense.
Most days in England are grey. :) |

Then I must have been lucky on my two trips to Oxford and environs. Of course, it was August ...

| In that case, you'll have to come again in August. Or July... or September? |
