Garry, the least Mrs Garry could have done was recorded it. Please suggest that to her, in case there is a next time, which we hope there won't be, but did you yodel? or was that made up just for the Sound of Music?

Lochalsh, relax! I'm not sure that making sense has ever been a prime consideration in these threads. |

I listened to Julie and I doubt I sang that well. But clear mountain air would be so wonderful that I would yodel if some of it would come my way.

Another small triumph this afternoon - I got a bit brave, and left the house for a few minutes by myself. It was only to the post box, which is probably a hundred yards each way, but a walk is a walk!
It was just to post a congratulations card to Jonathan and his girlfriend. In a few days' time, they will have been together for a year.
The normal sort of time for waking up from anaesthetic is 24 hours, but I decided to be awkward and take 48. He told me that she spent a lot of that time stroking my hand and talking to me. A keeper? I think so. |

| Garry, sorry to be obtuse, but what does Julie have to do with your singing ability? And can't you yodel where you are? |

| Thank you, it seems that they are. It really is wonderful to be moving normally again. Another week or so and I shall be able to put the last couple of months behind me. And probably the last year... or five. |

A few months ago, Jonathan said "google coeliac," so I did, and it fitted perfectly. It was only about a month ago, at a routine haematology appointment, that I mentioned it to the haematologist, and he sent some of my blood off for testing. They take the sample they need, plus an extra couple of phials in case they think of anything else to test for. Clever.
I was very pleased, of course, when the result came back negative, partly because of the cost of gluten-free food, and partly because of the sheer convenience. I can go back to stoneground organic wholemeal bread for £1.39 instead of gluten-free for £3. If I'm shopping in the evening, and I see a sandwich marked down to pennies because it's late - I can buy it!
We think now that all the signs and symptoms and problems I had were just manifestations of undiagnosed heart failure. Now that's been sorted, I don't seem to have much (else) wrong with me.
The new GP in the new practice asked me about my asthma. I haven't been diagnosed with asthma. I was given the inhalers to help my breathing, but all the medical people who knew about them assumed I'd had it diagnosed. This one actually asked! One inhaler was for relieving symptoms during the day, and I stopped using it ages ago. The other one is a steroid-based "preventer" to be used first and last thing, and I've carried on using it because people have said keep on using it, and because I shall probably need medical supervision coming off it. The new GP said we'll get the more urgent things sorted out first, and then we'll wean you off that. That must have been the best GP consultation I've had for at least ten years. |

I didn't have any digestive problems either, but there are other symptoms, like deficiency diseases because of the destruction of the villi (which fits perfectly with the rampant anaemia I had a couple of years ago), or a rash called dermatitis herpetiformis, which is quite rare. But I assume you've googled these things?
It's an altruistic act to share your GP, but you're making the queues for her longer every time! |

And thank you Garry - you posted as I was typing. On the way back I saw a neighbour and stopped for a little chat, which was a nice way of reminding me that I'm still part of the human race.
I had a visitor yesterday - she just popped in for a cuppa but we had coffee and jaffa cakes and a long natter... it was her idea to sit in the garden. I would never have thought of it. Now I have a gardener who is making a clearing in the jungle, and it's starting to look like a garden again, it was a lovely thing to do.
Years and years ago, when the garden was in better nick, we used to entertain adults, and children, in the far section, which is lawn surrounded by apple trees. I bought a load of chairs but they're so old they're stained and rusty. Time to start again. I can't wait. :) |

Lesley, your blog is hard to keep up to! Very nice to hear you were out for a short walk, and had a nice visit in your newly groomed garden. Sounds fantastic!
I've been around, but was gone on holidays a little while ago. This summer has been quite busy, but once the boys are back in school things should get more routine! I've started a new blog on blogspot. I haven't had time to keep it very active, and I don't have any new drawings up there (I do plan on throwing up a few at some point). I'll wing you a PM later about it.
I'm so pleased about your recovery. Hope you continue to feel better and better all the time. Too bad we live so far away, otherwise I'd stop by for a cuppa too! Alas, it's got to be a virtual cuppa!

Thank you, Squisher, and welcome home. Tell me about your holidays?
I never remember to check people proper blogs in the outside world. We were all under one roof, and now we're scattered. Sad.
What a lovely idea. Virtual cuppa, and virtual jaffa cakes or chocolate biscuits or both? |

A year ago tomorrow, Jonathan and his girlfriend had their first date. He cooked something (can't remember what) with roast potatoes, and I remember there was some chocolate, chilli-flavoured, I think, and then they went to a Prom concert.
This evening he was preparing some King Edwards for roasting. Tomorrow he wants to reproduce their first meal together. And then they're going to a Prom concert.
