| That's amazing - that's the first clip I listened to when you told me about him and before I saw this post. I think he's just playing to the audience here, and doing it really rather well. Nice. Thank you! |

You're welcome! He's a bit of a cutie, too, isn't he? :)

I'll fill you in on the schoolfriend, he has explained many things there already, and as a result I did have to change the emphasis of my campaign, but not the nature of it. Proving the effects of CO2 and its consequent removal from a greenhouse or on paper is one thing, but put that into an atmosphere with many existing cycles and you are on shaky ground. But he's a top scientist so rather than try and beat him at his own game I'm calling on others to help, it's a waste of time not competing on equal levels. He came over not that long ago after I found him here after around 30 years and was quite laid back, but as soon as I encroached on his own profession he turned and showed his true pompous self which as you've seen is quite up himself. I'm not complaining as it sent me to another scientist who was only too pleased to welcome me on board. Watch this space.

David, he's so far up himself you wonder when he last saw daylight.
Why I have prodded him with a pointy stick is not because of his arguments, because I don't know what they are. Telling you that you make mistakes, therefore you have lost all credibility and generally can't be trusted, without being specific or offering examples or information of his own, makes his posts nothing more than personal attacks.
Why do you listen to him, or read what he writes? None of it is pleasant or constructive. |

| Lochalsh, he is very talented and horribly good-looking. Wonder how that happened? :p |

Funny, I thought I'd replied already. Last time that happened my reply was on the general board and had to ask for it to be deleted.
I'd say having a physicist around is worth more than his personality failures. He was always eccentric but this side of him is new to me as I'm treading on his toes. How does it look as a professional when an outsider tries to say you're wrong? Clearly not that much self confidence there. My own profession is full of conflicting views as harder to test, and what we usually do is try all besides the silly ones and see for ourselves. But I don't want to lose a connection after 45 years unless he stole from me, attacked me physically or accused me of a crime. And it is good watching him tie himself up more and more in knots and not realise the only one who looks a prat is him. He appears to have no shame or humility so unlikely he'll look back in embarrassment in a year or so as he's so certain 'the science is settled'. But the longer he carries on the higher the chance. And how he can expect anyone unqualified to be able to analyse the stuff other scientists have already claimed to be genuinely is setting the bar too high, and I do actually suspect his maths (my worst subject as well) on the first graph is irrelevant as my little amount of calculus tells me you can't get a slope from a line however many times you average it. I know Jonno's busy as he's the only other one I know who's around who can check them and give me a decent answer. Maybe I will just to see as my radar tells me I may still have a point there.

Too insecure to allow you to tread on his toes - sounds about right. And now he has me to attack too, which is hilarious.
Would you like me to stop prodding him with my pointy stick, then? |

Oh no! He needs as many prods as possible. Just because he'd have to turn psycho to get rid of me doesn't mean he's beyond the range of a good bollocking. He appears not to either understand or care but maybe the sheer weight may crack him eventually. I welcome anyone else around to join in as I'm sure plenty of others have come across it. I've also just found a thoroughly tedious to read piece explaining the stats why CO2 equations are 10 times less reliable than they claim. The whole point is that these articles are both possible and credible. I pass them along, some of course are better than others, and a few are duff. But if he looked at the data rather than me the whole time he may understand the side saying they can't claim anything yet may actually have a very big point.

In that case I shall be happy to carry on prodding. Silly man, isn't going to get anywhere by spraying insults at anyone who comes near him.
The Sheffield woman hasn't been back. Must have bunny girl training sessions to go to.
Thanks, Lochalsh, I did learn Latin, a long time ago. Who in their right mind would translate a Beatles song into Latin... and then sing it? |

Well, in my second year of high-school Spanish, the Beatles came to the U.S. I was so besotted with both subject and singers that I translated "Yesterday" into the language.

Oops, I translated "And I Love Her," not "Yesterday."

My network is quite interesting at times. Bunny Girl was at 6th form college with myself and rudeboy, but as he did science she doesn't remember him but fancies his photo. She moved to Sheffield and got divorced and stuck there now. She loves to pick holes, we've been in touch a few years now but not met due to the distance. She was in my class for a year and I used to fancy her so she spent the time taking the pee as a result, little has changed nearly 35 years on... Who'd have thought we could have got together with so many school friends so many years later? The worst thing is half of them don't actually remember me, although she does clearly. I just wish a few of us could get together sometimes in real life but we're spread across the world now, a good few you see are abroad.

That's it - if you're in your right mind you translate them into Spanish, not Latin.
Most of my old schoolfriends, apart from Miss Franks, have disappeared off the face of the earth, but I suddenly remembered one of them the other day, and googled him. I had a little crush on him when I was twelve, but not now. He's gone all old! |

That's too funny! I feel the same way. I see people from high school on FB and think: No way, I'm not that old!
I never will be either! I don't care how THEY look! ;)

My wife and I are the same age, but she looks twenty years younger than me. I don't understand it, other than she has better genes and started out much better in the first place. I still feel young and dance like a gypsy.

Sorry to go off topic (which I have been reading and following)...Going back to your boy buying you prom tickets... As I'm about to head off overseas, my girl asked me last night should she get me some tickets for next years rugby world cup!
I looked at her with such love and pride....and wondered how hard it it'll be to 'pull a sickie' from the M.E!
