| I don't normally correct typos, or even acknowledge them, but I can't believe I put an apostrophe in wont. *sob* |

What's that supposed to mean?
*Sorry* [that sounded *so* rude, and I don't like that!]

Lochalsh.........wife Mk.1 was 5ft 01/2........it seems the 1/2" was important.....as is your 1/4"? Lol
For the record, my navy ID Card said that I was 5ft 7 1/2...somewhere someone has "nicked" my 1/2" in subsequent years. Scotland Yard have been asked to investigate this loss!

Mom's 5 foot 1, and I'm sligtly taller than her... I think my Grandma's around 5.2, but she claims she's shrinking, so... Who knows? [I don't feel like 5 1/2, but... hey, if that's what they tell me, I guess it must be true!]
Everyone feels like a midget beside cousin Robbie, who's six foot four (something like that--disgusting!]

Ray, I wrote that height automatically, just as I've recorded it for many years. After I posted, I recalled that I'm now 5' 8 3/4"--thanks to either aging or hip replacement, or both. :)
I give the exact measurement because I'm excruciatingly bound to truth in all things. How's that for a reason? :)

I'm 5'5", I once used a measuring stick and found I'd grown 1/4 inch, and then heard you're taller in the morning and shorter at night as the spine compacts, so must take the average day's readings, which are 5'5". But at least I know at times I am a little more.

When parents differ greatly in height, offspring tend to do likewise.
By that, I mean that my Grandfather stood around 6ft-6ft 2" and weighed maybe about 238lbs........my Grandmother struggled to get above 5ft or over 140lbs.
My father was one of 5 sons...........3 took after their father and were 6ft +, my father and his brother Jack took after their mother.
He was 5ft 6" tall and when boxing weighed in at around 136lbs.

Thank you, Ray, for your grammar reassurance. I feel much better now. :)

Almost everyone here is taller than I am. :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been out all day. A local musician, who is in his third year at a conservatoire, studying composition, has been trying his hand at conducting. He put an orchestra to play pieces by Haydn and Beethoven, and Jonathan and Lyndsey were both playing.
They needed to be there at two for rehearsals, and I needed to be there at five to meet them, and her parents, for a meal. As it was nearly 20 miles away, in a town I may have been to once but can't remember how I got there, I went with them, and just spent three hours wandering about the shops and spending money.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tomorrow I plan to go to a funeral, just over 20 miles away, and need to leave at 11 to drive there, or 10.30 to scrounge a lift off the man who's taking the service. I just need to say a little prayer to the gods of not waking up in the middle of the night. It's for a friend's daughter-in-law, who died the day before her 47th birthday, leaving a distraught husband and four children, from mid-teens to early twenties. Not fair.
Goodnight! |

Thanks, you two. Not as bad as when a local boy of 20, who was heading up the A6 to Manchester with a friend, crashed and they both died, but bad enough.
Lovely as it is having the company I've had for the last week, it's also lovely having the house to myself, catching up on laundry (thanks to Jonathan, who seems to understand plumbing), and catching up with all the people I've meant to phone but haven't had time because we've been running around Doing Things.
One of the things we got yesterday was a new printer - my old one died ages ago. This one does all the things the old one did, but it's half the size and much shinier. Yay I can take photocopies again! |
