I can't name names; my sproguette's been in the "industry," and she's never wanted me to betray her clients. I will say, though, that one time I staying in the Theater District in NYC, and, returning to my hotel, I saw Joanne Woodward at a stage door. I *might* have stopped to thank her for her work, but she already had four or five admirers about, and I didn't want to bother her.
I've also broken bread with quite a few literati, but that's not very exciting, is it? :)

I've seen other celebrities, of course, but not as a happenstance as I walked by nearly brushing her coat. :)

Tell me when you're ready for my Queen story.
And no, I do not mean Elton John! ;)

Flopsy, if you're referring to Helen Mirren, stop now, or Lesley will bop you with a carrot. :)

Flopsy do you mean the one and only Queen and not the imitation version that brian may is part of? As Queen was only Queen when Freddie Mercury was alive and performing with them.

Er, no... although I love Queen, and Freddie. And that image of Brian May on the roof of Buckingham Palace playing for the Jubilee was amazing. But not that Queen. :)

Professer, I think maybe Flopsy's referring to Priscilla of the Desert. :)
Signed,

That?s an impressive list, Gary. Harry H Corbett was a versatile genius, and much missed. Of course, we love our stereotypes: once we?ve decided what someone is, they rarely escape from their pigeon-hole. Corbett was eventually, unjustifiably, identified with Steptoe, and that half-killed him.
Lisa Goddard is my H?s ex! Wonder what Diane Cilento is up to now - haven?t seen her for ages.
Thanks, Lochalsh. Love the new word. :) Joanne Woodward is a pretty good name. Why would breaking bread with literati be boring? When she's not acting, I think Helen Mirren needs to think a little more and speak a little less. I wouldn?t carrot-whip anyone who mentioned her. She?s not werf it!
Flopsy, I am thoroughly confused. I thought you meant the Queen, not Queen, but I didn?t think of Priscilla. Or even Elton John. But I am ready for your story, please - I am, I am! |

*wandering around, looking for the new word*
The literati I've supped with are mostly American and Latin American poets. They mean a lot to me, but they aren't so well-known as movie stars. Write for the list. :)
My late beloved had a long Spanish lunch with Salman Rushdie. Now, there's a literary figure! (I first spelled his given name with an 'o' as the second vowel. Get a grip, Lochy!)
Oh, wait: I did see Burton and Taylor when they were filming at an outdoor location in San Sebastián on my first trip to Spain in the seventies!

Your wandering may cease. The new word was sempiternal.
Famous American poets? Lemme think. Longfellow, Whitman, Ginsberg. Frost, Dickinson, cummings, Angelou. There might be a couple more, like Twain and Poe, I think of as novelists first, and I have no idea how many others I've never heard of, and everyone else has.
Latin American and Spanish - I recognise some of their names but can't recall any. Shame on me. |

Well, Borges is dead, too, but I did spend some time with him before his demise. I'm not making a lot of sense today. :(
How's the weather there, Ms.Cheerleader? Been out doing cartwheels on the lawn? :)
