Thanks, Bev. Not sure I can do much with Bedford - I think it's past help.
Oatmeal, I'm kidding myself. I can't remember what wild feels like. See you after school and we'll compare notes. :) |

It looks as though I tried to write fifty (fitty) cents there. I'm not that cool. :(

I hadn't heard of jello shots, but I found a "recipe" for making orange segments from orange jelly, vodka, and a hollowed-out orange. How many people go to that much trouble for a taste of vodka?
I've never said panties to anyone ever. Knickers is knickers is knickers. Nor have I ever discussed a low-rise garment, but I think they may be what over-50s call hipsters. I'm prepared to be corrected by a grown-up though. |

| Early night tonight. We're going to Jonathan's new flat as early as possible. If we have any free time, I shall scour the shops for a pair of low-rise trousers and some low-rise panties (eurgh) sorry, can't do it - hipsters and KNICKERS! - to go with them. Night all. |

Lesley, that drummer wouldn't know "wild" if it bit him. He's not "lost in the feeling," he's just mimicking the stereotype of the manic man with the sticks. I suggest he go back to the marching band and Sousa.

Ha - mine's already done the best part of 400 miles! What you did wrong, Gary, was to use Royal Mail, who managed to get it from A to B in the shortest possible time. Just think what a wonderful free sight-seeing tour it would have had if you'd entrusted it to FedEx!
I have yet to discover why they decided to readdress it to Jonathan. Just as well it wasn't a secret present for him. Grr.
While I've been tracking my lamp, he's been tracking a telly, and it's just been delivered to the downstairs flat. Good start! Not that I think he'll have time to watch telly, but he thinks he does, and what do I know?
Whoops my knickers link didn't work. Try another one:

Thank you, Gary, I've seen pictures and I could understand why he was so keen to get it. I hope it's up to expectations. |

Those are not big enough to carry the title of 'knickers'.

I somehow knew that knickers in the UK were underwear, probably because the same usage was popular in the US in my mother's youth. I've heard knickers in the US to describe men's knee-length trousers, though I think my dad used "plus-fours" to describe how he was dressed in some old snapshots.

When I googled knickers yesterday, I saw knickers that, frankly, looked very painful. They must be more for showing than for comfort.
I remember when 'granny panties' were the only thing available.

Regardless of how we define them, I do know that we mustn't get our knickers in a twist.
Now, I feel old. I'll blame that on my mother and her "quaint" expressions.
