I'd always thought that once you got a blog you had a blog in perpetuity, and could continue to add to it, whether you were a paying member or not. That may have been right at one time, but it isn't now.

I wrote an update yesterday, a few hours after I'd had an email to tell me that my paying membership had expired, and got an "access denied" message. I thought it was a shame to waste it. Off I go...

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Oatmeal25 I've almost forgotten how to be wild. I'm educable, though. :)

Thanks, Bev. Not sure I can do much with Bedford - I think it's past help.

Oatmeal, I'm kidding myself. I can't remember what wild feels like. See you after school and we'll compare notes. :)

Oatmeal25 Lesley, I don't think we'll find our way to wildness through the local library. Start at .50:

Oatmeal25 It looks as though I tried to write fifty (fitty) cents there. I'm not that cool. :(

Thanks for that - I can't remember the last time I cringed so much! :-D

If we're looking for wild, do you think this drummer fits the bill?

The AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) said the following for those over 50 (not that any of us truly are over 50):

No jello shots
No saying 'panties'
No low rise pants

http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/aarp-once-youre-50-goodbye-jell-o-shots-saying-panties-plus-other-dos-and-donts

When did the AARP become the over 50 police? I am going out tomorrow and purchasing jello shots (where do you get them), multiple pairs of panties and at least one pair of low rise pants. Teach them to tell me what to do...ha!

Now, about these jello shots...does Bill Cosby know about them...he promotes jello after all...lol

I hadn't heard of jello shots, but I found a "recipe" for making orange segments from orange jelly, vodka, and a hollowed-out orange. How many people go to that much trouble for a taste of vodka?

I've never said panties to anyone ever. Knickers is knickers is knickers. Nor have I ever discussed a low-rise garment, but I think they may be what over-50s call hipsters. I'm prepared to be corrected by a grown-up though.

Early night tonight. We're going to Jonathan's new flat as early as possible. If we have any free time, I shall scour the shops for a pair of low-rise trousers and some low-rise panties (eurgh) sorry, can't do it - hipsters and KNICKERS! - to go with them. Night all.

Oatmeal25 Lesley, that drummer wouldn't know "wild" if it bit him. He's not "lost in the feeling," he's just mimicking the stereotype of the manic man with the sticks. I suggest he go back to the marching band and Sousa.

Or he could re-train as a cheerleader? (I really am going to bed now.)

Knickers! I love it.

Night.

My parcel started out from Cambridge, 30 miles away, addressed to me, and has now arrived in Wellingborough, 20 miles away, addressed to my son. This is progress.

Hope your weekedn goes well Lesley and Jonathans new place is ok.

Ha - mine's already done the best part of 400 miles! What you did wrong, Gary, was to use Royal Mail, who managed to get it from A to B in the shortest possible time. Just think what a wonderful free sight-seeing tour it would have had if you'd entrusted it to FedEx!

I have yet to discover why they decided to readdress it to Jonathan. Just as well it wasn't a secret present for him. Grr.

While I've been tracking my lamp, he's been tracking a telly, and it's just been delivered to the downstairs flat. Good start! Not that I think he'll have time to watch telly, but he thinks he does, and what do I know?

Whoops my knickers link didn't work. Try another one:

Thank you, Gary, I've seen pictures and I could understand why he was so keen to get it. I hope it's up to expectations.

Those are not big enough to carry the title of 'knickers'.

In England they are! :D

Oatmeal25 I somehow knew that knickers in the UK were underwear, probably because the same usage was popular in the US in my mother's youth. I've heard knickers in the US to describe men's knee-length trousers, though I think my dad used "plus-fours" to describe how he was dressed in some old snapshots.

When I googled knickers yesterday, I saw knickers that, frankly, looked very painful. They must be more for showing than for comfort.

I remember when 'granny panties' were the only thing available.

Oatmeal25 Regardless of how we define them, I do know that we mustn't get our knickers in a twist.

Now, I feel old. I'll blame that on my mother and her "quaint" expressions.

Frankly, those knickers I saw yesterday were already twisted....ouch!
