Confession: I've read the instructions, but I haven't taken it out of the box yet. The instructions are clear and succinct.
Summon butler to place iron on hot Aga.
Summon housekeeper to place hot iron on clothes.
Have footman on call to repel unwanted visitors.
"Don't iron clothing while it's being worn - you'll burn or scald the wearer (this is not a joke - I've seen it happen)." Isn't that good?
Trojan, please don't die. I need you to write the screenplay for my autobiography. |

| Seeing my cardiologist at ten o'clock tomorrow morning. It's only a routine visit, but the scary bit is the ten o'clock! |

10:00, matutinal? Stone me Tiepolo, some folk rise late.
Good luck with the early morning enjoyment of nestling close to other waiting carbon based bipeds, Lesley.

"Huh?" sounds about right. :)
I've had breakfast and am about to cart my cauldron of tea upstairs and have a shower. I have an hour to be there so I'm on target! I amaze myself sometimes. |

Home now, eating, and and happy.
I had an echocardiogram and then saw my cardiologist. Seems I developed "mild impairment" of left ventricular function a little after my op, and it's now "good" again. He said I can halve the dose of one of the things I'm taking, which I am delighted about, and - best of all - come back in a year! Whoopee.
Getting there was fun. There are road-works snarling up the town centre, and building work in the hospital. They've put three disabled parking spots out of action, with a prefab, something like a double-size portaloo, over one, and barricaded off the two next to it.
I drew up alongside a builder's lorry, the driver shouted some disparaging remark about my intellect, because I hadn't seen his reversing lights: well, no, because I wasn't behind him: I called him an onanist, and nipped into the last remaining parking spot, so badly that I had to get out on the passenger side; and I still made it to cardiology on the dot of ten.
Had to pass Sainsburys on the way home, and thought about buying something I forgot to get yesterday, but there were three police cars there, flashing and blocking the road off. I can survive without carrot juice, and I hope it wasn't a traffic accident.
Gary, we've had this conversation before. There's a perfectly good solution to the problem of heavy bags, and you're not allowed to grumble if you choose to do without. Sorry! |

Glad all went well, Lesley. My bags are heavy, too; the ones under my eyes, that is. :)

| Thanks, Trojan. I always thought the bags under my eyes gave me extra gravitas and a general air of grown-upness. |

Very pleased the heart's working 100% now, and you needn't go for another year. I'd guess if the police had cordoned off a supermarket it's far more likely to be shoplifters or car thieves there and they don't want them leaving or anyone else getting involved.
When I was in Luton recently (not quite Bedford, sorry!) the new road to the airport sent me there instead of the A6 (no signs to that or Bedford which is on it next so had to try and work it out by elimination) and when I turned round as it's actually a dead end (a dual carriageway with a dead end, a new trivia question!) I went back to the next roundabout to head into the centre and the police cordoned that off so had to go all the way back to almost the A5 (as it used to be) and then follow a crocodile of traffic around the suburbs until I could pick up the A6 way north of town. I have no idea why they did it then, but criminals are 99% of the reason and it did at least mean I got some good photos of the view from the top of the hill which was only possible as the traffic wasn't moving. Luton was also famous long before for its dire signage system, the M1 northbound sends poor new arrivals beyond Dunstable to then have to drive over two miles south while anyone on a return visit leaves for the airport and drives in past Vauxhalls. It's been like that at least 30 years and no one says or does anything to sort it out.

Just what I was thinking! It's simply not fair to seek attention for something that could be resolved easily enough.
Lesley, good news about your health! I'm turning handsprings for you! (Metaphorically: I'm just awake and don't have my physical coordination at the ready. :) )

Everyone should have a hobby....even being an onanist. I can only imagine what the response was to the comment. It's fortunate your car wasn't found in a different location or position or even upside down.
Professer, I know what you mean about heavy bags. Not having a car, or a ride, can really be a bother. Some just don't understand.
It appears the on-going Merv saga could be at an end. What a relief. It seems to never end.

I do understand. I simply choose to share my difficulties--though sparingly--with the people around in my non-online life, people who are in my physical presence and can offer help if they wish. Besides, this is Lesley's blog.
