I'd always thought that once you got a blog you had a blog in perpetuity, and could continue to add to it, whether you were a paying member or not. That may have been right at one time, but it isn't now.

I wrote an update yesterday, a few hours after I'd had an email to tell me that my paying membership had expired, and got an "access denied" message. I thought it was a shame to waste it. Off I go...

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I don't think they are- she has just the one interest in life and it's men. She's just more motivated than usual. Other than that I get plenty of offers from women, maybe one a decade even. I don't think that's ever changed...

What, **every** decade? What is your secret - will you share it? The only people who proposition me are married men and Merv.

Same here, Lesley, except for Merv.... and NO I don't want his phone number! :)

bet you do really Blood and sand lol :) Why is it so difficult to find the right person to settle down with. Have had my fair share of the female equivilant of merv over the years.

Never wish the merv type person on anyone male or female.

Bev, wouldn't dream of offering - honest! You're safe, I promise.

Thank you, Lesley, I shall sleep easier tonight knowing that!
Know what you mean,Professer, about finding the right person. I think I must have a flashing blue lamp on my head that acts as a signal to all the dregs of male humankind :(

My pleasure. Any time you'd like me not to give you a phone number, just say.

I've stopped bothering since I realised that the sign on my forehead says "control freaks queue here."

They've been around-some predators are just so subtle we don't notice right off.

Look Bev, we're not alone!

A lot of them start off like the answer to a maiden's prayer - but they're pretending! There are signals. For example, if by your third date he has told you every little detail of your future together, that's a signal to run as fast as you can and don't look back. We know what the alarm signals are. We need to pay attention to them!

You're welcome!

How many pesky males do you have to deal with? Any unpesky ones to share?

Snopes is my friend.

Every so often, I get scary emails telling me what dreadful things will happen if I don't forward them to everyone on my email address list. They're usually in giant capitals in a variety of lurid colours, and quote corroborating warnings from any or all of the software houses.

Here's one I got this evening, from my cousin, who says it's from an old pal of his from the MoD. Most of it was in 24-point bold underlined upper case. I've used Word to give it a more human appearance, but I haven't corrected any of the rubbish grammar.

The first thing I did was to google "simon ashton" and I got 160,000 results. Without the quotes, 20 million.

It has now become a game, much like a "spot the differences" puzzle, but this one is Spot The Barefaced Lies. Have fun.

Urgent - please read - not a joke
Pass this on!

If a person called Simon Ashton (simon25@hotmail.co.uk) contacts you through email don't open the message. Delete it because he is a hacker!!

Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds him then you will get him on your list. He will figure out your ID computer address, so copy and paste this message to everyone even if you don't care for them and fast because if he hacks their email he hacks your mail too!!!!!.....

Anyone-using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.. This information arrived this morning, direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled 'mail server report'

If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'it is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will lose everything in your PC, and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software’s are not capable of destroying it .

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'..

Please send a copy of this e-mail to all your friends, and ask them to pass it on immediately!

I didn't forward it to anyone. I wrote back to my cousin, with four links to articles about the Simon Ashton hoax, and the reassurance that there were plenty more where they came from. I'm not expecting to hear from him soon.

I had lots of sleep and haven't heard from my cousin. People don't like being told that they fell for hoaxes. Funny that. :p But it's OK - I don't like being sent rubbish scare story chain emails.

Today's job is clearing out a pedestal desk that's just wasting an enormous amount of floor space. This one has a middle drawer, and four drawers each side - too old to have a suspended filing drawer, or a pull-out keyboard shelf, and so heavy the top lifts off. It's a waste of space in what used to be my sewing room, and you can't lay out, pin and cut, and stick your sewing machine, on leather. Well, you can, but the leather wouldn't thank you for it.

I've got a local charity to pick it up on Thursday. I cleared two drawers yesterday and gazed despondently at the rest. I had no idea it held so much! I'll be pleased to see the back of it and may do a little happy dance on the new space when it's gone.
