Might be fun, have a go. You're not far from home, are you?

Careful, Lesley, this could be the start of another slippery slope!

| I was thinking about it but I woke up at 7, couldn't get back to sleep, dropped off at last but got a text at 9... and another one at 10... and ended up crashing till after 12. Too tired and too late to do anything, but I *was* thinking about it! |

| At three-ish I thought sod it, rang him to check he was still there, and said I would take him up on his offer of a tomato juice. He was sitting with an old friend whose girlfriend had just dumped him after fifteen years. Happy days. Ho ho bleeding ho. |

Sorry, Lesley - I shouldn't laugh but...... I can't help it!

| Why shouldn't you laugh? Best thing to do in the circumstances, I'd have thought! |

He's got a sister who lives round the corner and never includes him in anything. Joy of family.
He said, more than once, what a pleasant surprise it was to see me. He also said he couldn't get over how good I looked. Oh thanks! (Once was enough for him to say that.)
His mate went off on his bike and I gave him a lift home, which ended up being my home, for a cup of coffee and a bit of fruit cake, before he walked back to his. I'm pleased I went out. Better than staying at home shouting at four walls. |

GREAT - Christmas is over.............just leaves New Year hype to endure and then I can get back to enjoying life!
"Did I have a good Christmas"?..........well what's one of those? Had one or two as a child I recall, but lost interest after I got much past 8 years old!
Best Christmas as adult..............Christmas 1965......in Singapore serving in HMS AJAX.
Unfortunately I have not been in hibernation - I merely wish I could be.

Welcome back, Ray. Well done for missing the fuss we made of your birthday. :)
Did you get separate presents for Christmas and birthday, or did most people just say "cop this, it'll do for both"? |

Made a "fuss" of my birthday,.........why? (puzzled)
Ok, so I reached the Biblical "Three Score years and Ten", but.......so.........shrugs!
No, I actually got separate Birthday & Christmas gifts.....however the "this will do for both events" was a thing I "suffered" as a child. As I was prone to complaining bitterly about this, my Grandfather felt obligated to buy me an "Easter present" instead!
Btw...........Mk.1 son, who entered this world on 22md December, also "enjoyed" the same problem.
No particular reason for being "conspicuous by my absence" from your Blog, Lesley............chatting in FT is one of those things I do when the mood prevails. I merely had a spell of nothing much to say and hence mood not "prevailing".
Hope you had a good Christmas though.

Sorry, not really a fuss - just a couple of us on the last page wishing you happy birthday. I thought you'd run away because I suggested we elope on your birthday and you were straying out of trouble.
It would be even worse for twins.
Thank you, Christmas Day was very special - I accepted Merv's invitation for a drink. Drove to the town centre pub he said he'd be in, and had a tomato juice. Doesn't get any better than that. |

| Hmmm - I meant staying, but straying will do just as well. |

Glad to hear you had an 'uneventful' visit. Hope it doesn't start anything...:) Nice that your Holidays were good. Mine, too.

| Thanks, VM, and it won't. He used to begin the occasional parting sentence with "And remember, if you ever..." but he's given up now: which is good, because it was getting a bit wearing. And he is seeing one or two women (I don't know how he does it), and going off to things like jazz concerts, so he's occupied, and that's good too. |

| I may have the pleasure of sprog's company tomorrow. He thought he might get here today till he checked the trains and discovered that they're only going to airports or through the Chunnel. I'll expect him when I see him. Night everyone. |

| Yes, thanks, Bev. A two-hour journey took three hours, including a slew of replacement buses, few of which were actually going anywhere if the drivers were to be believed. He was in Reading station, and there were eight buses. He approached the drivers and every one of them sent him to someone else's bus. Eventually, each driver had pointed him towards each of the other drivers, just a big British Rail cat's cradle of jobsworthing. He's only here for a few days but it will be nice. I think. Hope. |

We went to the cinema this evening and saw Robert Downey Jr. I have no idea what the film was, but it had Robert Downey Jr in it...
Tomorrow we're having lunch in central London with two relatives. One is my cousin, the youngest of my aunt's four daughters born in the Bronx, in England on holiday, staying with the sister who's now settled in Birmingham with her English husband. I haven't seen her for longer than I can remember. The other is the son of the oldest of the four, now naturalised and living in south London. I spoke to him on the phone earlier, but I haven't met him, and Jonathan hasn't met either of them. |
