Shame on that soman! Throwing shoes? Ahave we resorted to preschool behavior now?
Impatience seems all around us (speaking of which, I need to write a story in my own blog before I forget it).
At least he said anything (obviously, being that consumed with a need to… whatever… he could have just left, with no communicative effort whatsoever).
Hope the surgery goes well (and shame on the guy who did it the first round).

If a man does allow a woman into the car, she has to deal with the whole “road rage” or “road aggression” thing.
Claiming you were ill? That’s horrible! (or, should I use the word insensitive?) [might be in the same category with what my great uncle did to Grandma--details on my blog]

Shame indeed. If she’s old enough to have a child, you’d hope she’d have acquired a bit of self-control on the way.
He was a gifted communicator with everyone, it seems, except me. I think the best place for that is my autobiography, though, not here.
Thanks. The first and second corrections were done by the man who botched the original one, and so was the second. This one is going to be done by the top bloke. All I know about the first one is that he is no longer employed at the same hospital. He shouldn’t be employed anywhere.
Claiming I was ill for ten years - I hadn’t tried to apply an adjective to it. It hadn’t occurred to me that it was something you could describe. I shall try now. Here goes: unconscionable, controlling and selfish. Good start?
I shall follow you to your blog later to see if you’ve written your family story yet.

My (No.2) niece texted me on Tuesday afternoon to tell me that she'd gone to the hospital for a pre-op assessment, and they'd kept her in. We swapped a few texts that evening, and then No.1 niece - information hub - took over with a couple of group texts.
I didn't hear anything from her on Wednesday so I rang her parents in the evening, and my brother picked the phone up. He didn't know she was in hospital. He asked his wife if she knew. She knew.
What ward is she in?
Same as last time.
What's it called?
Can't remember. I'll know it when I get there.
Two years ago, when I was in hospital. No.1 niece and my No.1 son were in constant contact, and she kept the rest of the family updated with group texts. The rest of the family, that is, that had mobiles. My brother didn't have a mobile phone, so he wasn't getting the messages, and nobody thought of telling him. Nothing changes. Then it was only his sister and now it's only his daughter. |

You can certainly choose your friends Lesley but sadly not your family, Having just spoke to my mum seems we have similar problems.

No, it was Monday she went in! Two whole days that nobody had thought my brother needed to know.
Yesterday evening, I had a look at the Debenhams website and saw a few things I liked the look of. At five o'clock this afternoon, I went in and found the same things on the shelves. I also accosted a saleswoman and asked if she had any other ideas. Silly question, really, because most of them don't have a clue. She took me round the department and showed me pretty well everything on display. I picked up three tops, each in two sizes because I don't know what size I need in there. At twenty past five I said I'd like to try them on, to get out of the shop and away from the loud music they play when there's a sale on.
We walked to where the fitting rooms are, and she went into a conspiratorial huddle with two girls at the counter.
"I'm really sorry, but the fitting rooms are closed."
Huh? When did that happen?
"The shop closes at 5.30 and the fitting rooms close at 5.15."
Why?
"Because the shop closes at 5.30."
How long does it take to try on three t-shirts?
Meanwhile, the woman next to me is holding a pair of trousers, and asking "How long does it take to try on a pair of trousers?"
So we dumped our potential purchases on the counter and walked out. Good thing nobody invited us to "pop back" on another day while the fitting rooms are open. How long does it take to extract three t-shirts and a pair of trousers from one salesgirl...
The only thing I did wonder about was - why were they whispering? I can see a lively exchange of information with Debenhams. |

Thanks, VM! She was well enough yesterday to invite me to visit on Sunday, and to talk on the phone to her parents in the evening.
What were you going to post, because you didn't! Goofy? Really? :D |

I emailed Debenhams and asked when their fitting rooms closed relative to shop opening hours.
"Which store?"
Just Bedford branch.
"I have contacted Bedford and they say that the fitting rooms close at 5.30, when the store closes."
OK, pin your ears back for a complaint.
What annoys me about this is that I wasted time being polite and patient with a salesgirl who clearly didn't know her elbow from her other elbow, and I was the one who suffered for it.
I think I need to learn from this. Do not let people waste my time. Do NOT let incompetent people waste MY time. Stuff patience and stuff courtesy. Let them learn their trade before they're inflicted on a busy public. It's my money I may be spending, and it's not my job to teach them theirs. |

A notice went up at the gym there was no entry allowed to the building less than half an hour before closing time. That included the changing rooms. So when I went towards the changing rooms after using the gym one of the instructors said you couldn't go in the changing room after 7.30 as the notice says so. I didn't argue as he is a (word deleted), but of course he meant that if you actually got changed in there first you couldn't even return to change back which was clearly not the intention, it was to stop people ducking in late and going in the changing room for other reasons (you wouldn't expect it but some members use it as their personal bathroom for some reason).
All I did was leave an official note (they have a box), the manager called me and the notice vanished the following week. No one can stop me having a shower now unless they add a new one with the same rules. There will always be idiots in charge but require customers to actually spell out what they've done to their managers or they'll just keep doing the same thing. You don't pay £40 a month to be pushed around like a small child.

No entry allowed "to the building" after 7:30...I think that's pretty clear. Maybe the employees need a refresher course in sign interpreting.
Sounds like your sales people were just trying to get off early. God forbid you take 10 minutes to try on blouses! Was this shop a 'teen spot' or are normal people welcome?
