I've reused or saved every plastic bag since I started being given them. Every now and then I donate them to charity shops and the like, and now the cleaner gets through lots as bin liners. I've got bin liners but maybe she thinks they're too small, but the process of asking such a simple question may take longer than the benefits. She hasn't found the stash in my bedroom yet though.
I think we have cookies here as well but specific to the sort of little homemade ones you learn to make at school.

'Night, Deunan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GG, you're right. Sorry, I don't know about House because I've never watched it, but show my ex-GP a horse and he'll call it a unicorn. Like the time I went to see him and you could see my belly a hundred yards before you saw the rest of me. I also went to see the out-of-hours GP service, and they said - er - um - go and see your GP in the morning. Neither of them seemed to have made any connection between bloat and heart failure, but Jamu said he thought it was a Sub-Acute Gastric Blockage which had cleared itself, just watch out in case I get one that doesn't clear itself. Meanwhile, he said, tugging an imaginary beard, he will refer me to the hospital (again?) but has to decide between Gastroenterology and General Surgeons. I don't think it mattered where I went, as long as it wasn't his surgery.
I'm not stressing - I'm doing What Ifs. You can imagine, my history contains an awful lot of What Ifs. The only time I stressed when when I booked "patient transport" (= volunteer drivers) for the pre-admission session, and Jamu cancelled it.
It was so much easier when we had the Proper Blogs - everything would have been in one place. I'm going in on Wednesday afternoon, and the op will be on Thursday, probaby early, because it's going to be quite a long one. I shall ask Jonathan to update facebook, which is OK because he's on that every day, and FT as well but I don't know if he will do that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Judy, I promise. Like a shot! Except they might tell me to keep away if I've been vomiting. Unless heart failure plus being pre-op plus potential dehydration are considered important enough to override the puking. I kept the bread and cheese down, thank goodness. I also managed to doze off, but woke up at about 3 - milkman probably. Is there a more stupid time to deliver milk than 3am? So I got the computer back on again, and have been most pleasantly surprised to find all these posts! I'm eating another knob of Cornish Cheddar and some dried apricots. Yum.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rowena, I'm glad the children are on the mend. I don't think mine is a germ. I have been known to feel queasy when I'm hungry, and to puke for England when I'm very very hungry. But it might be... Is it about Jamie's mum? Hope it's good news.
I swapped a few texts and made the odd phone call earlier today. The last text was at about 7. At around 11, I sent Jonathan a goodnight text, and it didn't send. So I tried to ring him, and the house phone, and both times it said connection to these numbers is restricted - contact your service provider. So it looks like the idiots at Vodaphone have cut me off without warning and without any decent reason I can think of. On a Friday night! Argh! I'll call later. If I'd done it then, I might have exploded.
Just another nail in the Vodaphone coffin. Like theirs is the only phone shop in Bedford that doesn't have seats. They'll bring you a chair, with much grunting and puffing and ill grace, while loudly making the point that they rarely get to sit down. Not interested. I have to sit down. Or like when they rang me up about upgrading, every other day while I was in hospital in April, and it was only after about six or seven calls that somebody bothered to listen and to make a note to leave me in peace till I got home. Or like when I threw a tantrum at them and cancelled my "friends and family" arrangement, that lets me talk to a selection of reprobates (cough cough Rowena) for £5 a month. I went back to reinstate it and was told not now, the system's down, there's nothing I can do; but you can do it by text - here's the number - it'll only take a couple of minutes. So I get to the bit where it asks for numbers, key in Rowena's, and the voice tut-tuts and says "I've already got that one - tell me a number I don't know." So does that mean that the man I instructed to cancel didn't bother, or the system is rubbish?
David, much as I appreciate the joy of school cooking, and the sheer surrealism of hiding a stash of plastic bags from your cleaner, that really is the most alarming non sequitur I've ever seen in the hallowed pages of FT. |
I wondered at David's post, as well. I could make the connection between plastic bags, (tossing) one's cookies, and puking, but I didn't want to. I've had a difficult enough day, and to envision dear, darling Lesley puking into petroleum by-products just sets my teeth on edge and my tummy awash.
Lesley, warm up some of what the milkman left, and go back to bed. Listen to your ancient friend. *creak*
Gentle hugs....
| Fairly rotten, thank you - no energy. Jonathan has been here for an hour or so, and we'll have another think about where I spend the next few days: home or Bedford hospital. :( |
Did Jonathan help with the dishwasher? I know filling it has been a concern for you the past few days. (Sure you're not a Virgo? :) )
Bedford Hospital's all right. Just avoid Bedlam....
Lesley, while I have no vote, I suggest the hospital. Not being able to keep food and water down is a big deal. It can throw your electrolytes off balance.
Please do what is the absolute best for you. You are very important and deserve the best of care and attention.
Since your operation is so soon, you may need to let the surgeon, or someone who needs to know, about your present condition.
You're right about following the real blogs Lesley, that list of numbers at the bottom of the page did for me- non sequitur was as I replied to a page or two earlier and just discovered the other one which mentioned all the things you're referring to today. I had to backtrack to find them and realised I'd been replying to almost a week ago.
I didn't realise you were ill (acute) on top of being ill (chronic), that's dreadful. All I saw when I looked was Lochalsh wondering if we had cookies here and something about bags (honest!) so if you tie those two together they do actually follow. My marbles seem to be in place so far but everyone will know when they're not before I do...
I hope you're feeling better now, it sounds like you're managing to eat and enjoy it which is always the best sign.
I wish we could get the jump to unread post here, then I may manage to keep up in future...
I don't even eat cookies, David. I may have been asking Lesley if she were a smart biscuit (BE) rather than a smart cookie (AE). Whatever you call it, the woman has a brain! Now, let's hope her body becomes more reliable for her soon.
Lesley, if I don't get to talk to you before you go into the hospital, know that I will be thinking of you every day. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope everything goes well. I will be hoping that Jonathan doesn't stress too much either. I know he will be very woried for you. I can't wait for you to be able to get back to the sight so you can update us. Meanwhile, I hope you are feeling better right now.
OK, now I'm worried...If you're ill, (in any way) they won't be able to do the procedure safely. Then, there you'll be once again--waiting!
I'm thinking of you, good thoughts. :)
