My husband expected turkey because his family always had turkey. The easiest Christmas ever was when I had beef tenderloin for the first time. There was no slaving over all sorts of different side dishes like Thanksgiving has. Fast, easy and delicious. One year we had goose with our turkey and that was delicious. They are so expensive, though!

I can DEFINITELY have Christmas dinner without brussel sprouts !! They do NOT go well in salad !

NutmegClaw My brother-in-law makes a big pot of menudo (tripe soup) to go with either a ham or roasted turkey, and tamales that we make the saturday before Christmas, or a few days before. We make the tamales, then watch a movie, usually Christmas Vacation or Bad Santa while they are steaming. It was more fun when the kids were teenagers. They would have their friends help.

We usually have ham, but our family loves to bake and make candy, and there is a huge variety of sweets to choose from while we play games.

Turkey and mashed potatoes - and I like the potatoes best when they are mashed to still have some lumps in them. Yum!

Caseena Prime rib. Nobody in my family really likes turkey anymore, so we have prime rib on Christmas and Easter, and sometimes Thanksgiving.

Along with rolls/crescents, salad, olives, baked potatoes, and cranberry salad.
