What is your favorite small town, village, or hamlet in your country? I'm inclined to think of places with under 20,000 inhabitants, but it's up to you to decide. Why is the place your favorite? Would the rest of us enjoy visiting there?

I'm inspired by staytrules' thread on "your favourite city in your country" to ask this question.

The small township of Bright in north-eastern Victoria is a wonderful place to visit in all seasons of the year. It nestles near the base of the Victorian Alps, in close proximity to the Alpine National Park, so is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. It's also a convenient and friendly base for exploring the region. The clear (and cold!) waters of the Ovens river run through town and this and the changing leaf colours in autumn make for a spectacular scene. Lots of great wineries and superb local produce too.
