Subject: Bus Ride Renewal Challenge

While the replacement of low-ranked quizzes is a continuing goal, preparation of extra quizzes to introduce variety for the tourists is also important now that the Bus Ride is well-established. Some tourists are on their third tour, and even nice quizzes get repetitive. The lowest-ranked quiz at the moment (in the cycle), aside from a few that have already had a volunteer for a new quiz, is Dominica, around 31,000, which is roughly in the top third of all quizzes.

The following list shows the quizzes in the current rotation in need of an additional quiz:

Angola, Belize, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Comoros, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Moldova, Mozambique, Nauru, North Korea, Palau, Republic of Congo, Saint Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Swaziland, Syria, The Bahamas, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Zambia

If you create a new quiz on one of the preceding countries, get it placed online, and have it place within a reasonable ranking, it will be removed from the listing for this project and placed into the cycle for future rides.

As an added bonus, we have modified the ratings system to give all quizzes in our rotation a ratings bump.

Feel free to use this thread to also "claim" a country so that you don't duplicate someone else's effort and make sure to follow along with our later posts and updates to make sure that everything is in order. We look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I just had a thought (Gasp now lol) - about the countries with only one quiz. I myself have had 3 in this current go round of the bus, that I wrote for geniusonwheels' challenge to "rule the world". Should we put the countries with just one quiz on the list, even though they are new, well received, reasonably (thankfully lol) rated quizzes? This would make a change as the bus comes round again. Or are they ok to just leave, assuming that people will play a country once for the badge and then stop?

Did it hurt, Row? I would say that the first priority is to make sure each country has one good quiz. Multiple quizzes for future tours might be nice, but I suspect that most people won't be on their world tours indefinitely. Still, it wuold be goof it terry had multiple quizzes for each, so they could either alternate or have the highest-ranked one at the start of each tour be the one used that cycle.

For the moment, the old and outdated countries need their quizzes replaced - a number of them get taken offline after the visit, because there are issues with time-stamping and/or quality of the questions and information, and the original authors aren't around to do the necessary fixing. I'm keeping my eyes out for them as they appear, and am learning more about Caribbean and Agrican countries than I ever imagined!

I think we have battered the Geography editors into submission - I haven't seen any new Geography quizzes for DAYS, except the generic FTQuizBot one. Last new Geography quiz went up on May 16, and in a few minutes it will be May 20. Has the bombardment of new quizzes broken their spirits?

It's good to see more of the new quizzes get enough ratings to move from 90,000+ at the top of the list to a 'real' rank position. And some of them are excellent! We seem to be doing a good job with this renewal challenge.

It's such a relief when they bounce up lol. My Kiribati one hit 20 ratings (or maybe it was time online) yesterday and has gone whizzing up to a proper ranking :-D It's so horrid when they're languishing down at the bottom of the heap like that!

I have made a note in my list of Emma's interest in El Salvador. I believe San Marino is also now in need of replacement - it has come offline after being visited, the author no longer has an account (at least, that's what I was told when I tried to see their profile to ask if they planned to edit the quiz for resubmission), and the two remaining San Marino quizzes are both very old and not very interesting. Anyone interested?

Kiribati was one of the early nominees for replacement on the original list, and we visited it for the first time today. There was another quiz ready to use if necessary, but it was replaced by the new, much better, one we currently have! The only countries that do not currently have a quiz listed and have not yet been visited are the three 'missing' ones - the Bus Ride list currently only has 192 countries. The links for the three countries that do not yet have a quiz have been posted here before, and I will post them again right now. All other countries shown as offline have been visited this time.
