I just wanted to post a comment on ow much more I am enjoying the trip this time around. The authors who have created the replacement quizzes have really done their job well. By this stage on the first circuit I was feeling that there were so many uninteresting or inaccurate quizzes that the whole thing threatened to become a disaster. As of today, when I just had a fun time visiting the Solomon Islands with Rhonda in a replacement quiz, I have only played two days that I did not particularly enjoy. What an improvement! I think we can all pat ourselves on the back over a job well done.
That said, I am planning to write and offer a replacement for the recent country whose quiz I did not particularly enjoy; even though it is not ranked all that low, it is rather old. I am not in a desperate rush, though. I would encourage all other authors to do likewise - just because the quiz selection is now good doesn't mean we can't make it better.

In case you are interested, the country that currently has the lowest-ranked quiz on the tour is Malaysia. As that was one of the last stops on the first tour, and we seem to be retracing our path, there is a fair amount of time for a replacement to be crafted (and hopefully grabbed by Terry before the bus arrives).

As I've been to, and loved, Malaysia I might be tempted to have a crack at that. However, I am struggling to find time to write anything at the moment so it would be several weeks before I could complete it.

Most of the quizzes have been much more interesting, although Spain could have covered a wider range of topics (and been shorter - 10 questions is enough).

Spain definitely stood out for me as having too many of the same type of question, and I didn't particularly enjoy it, but it is ranked just outside of sunnies, so maybe I'm in the minority.

I've just started compiling my quiz on Malaysia but I've just checked on the existing quizzes and noticed that there is a perfectly good one on site already written by our own resident native Matthew_07.

I may well still write mine but Matthew's should be added to the Bus Ride rather than mine.

You're right, that's a fine quiz, and ranked with sunglasses. My one concern would be question 6, about the tallest building, which could easily become out of date in a few years.

Are there any countries that still need makeover quizzes?

"Are there any countries that still need makeover quizzes?"
You can check the link at the top of this page and decide for yourself. There is nothing as urgent as at this stage last tour, but plenty of possibilities for improvement. Terry has made any quiz that is older than a certain date have a red date, and any quiz that is lower than 25,000 ranking (I think, some figure anyway) have a red rank. There is at the moment only one country with a no info flag (Colombia, which I have planned to work on, after checking that none of the other current Colombia quizzes seems like a suitable one to replace it; I am very busy right now, though, so feel free to post and offer to write one for it - I haven't actually done anything more than deciding it needs to be written at this stage).
Malawi and Brazil have each had a new quiz posted, Malaysia has had an available replacement noted, Netherlands, Guatemala, Ukraine, Croatia and Nicaragua have had people volunteer to replace them. The author of the current Israel quiz had written a new one and listed it as a replacement.
I spent some time checking currently-available quizzes for some of the lowest-ranked countries on the list, and do not think there are any suitable replacements online that could be used for Suriname, Costa Rica or Thailand, so they would be the next ones on my list. But real life is keeping that a really low priority right now!

Does anyone know when the next round of replacements will be made? Since they happen infrequently, it would be good for anyone who has one in development to know that they can get it included if they get it ready by whenever. More importantly, Janetgool has written a new quiz on Israel, and wants to replace the original one, also hers (or his, as the case may be). I have posted a link to it on this thread, but its not on the current page, and she has now posted a request about it on the bus Ride chatboard as well. How can we make sure it gets there within the next few weeks before the bus hits Israel again?

Just to let you know I'm planning to do a quiz within the next fortnight or so on the Czech Republic. I'm not sure yet whether it'll be sufficiently history/geog oriented for the Bus Ride, as I'm looking initially at a Czech beer theme (at least partly) - but if it is I'll fire it on to this thread when online.
The existing Czech Republic Bus Ride quiz by dobrov dates from 2001 and is fairly thin in terms of questions and I.I. (rated c. 28,000 at the moment).

We're only a couple of days away from Israel, and janetgool's old quiz has not yet been replaced by the one she wrote specifically to provide a better visit for the tourists.

My Czech quiz is on the back burner for a few weeks - the real world is getting in the way.

We hit Israel today, and still had janetgool's original (and very nice) quiz - but she really wanted her replacement quiz to be included in the ride. Maybe for the next circuit?

I've lost touch with this recently but have got a bit more time on my hands now. How do we know what, if anything, needs updating and isn't being covered by someone else?

the link at the top will show you countries that have any issues (red is used to highlight missing info, old, low-rated or off-line). Currently Cuba is offline, but Adams627 is an active author (and this is a very recent quiz), and may be planning corrections to get it back online.
To bring them to the top, I will paste here links to the replacements that have been produced and are waiting to go online at this stage.
Malawi – http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/History/Miscellaneous-Malawi-329250.html
Malaysia - http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/Malaysia-261920.html
Brazil - http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/General/There-are-Millions-of-Brazilians-276774.html
Israel - http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/A-Bus-Tour-of-Israel-327453.html
The following countries have had someone say they would write a quiz, but nothing much has happened about it, so you should feel free to write one if you have the inspiration: Netherlands, Guatemala, Ukraine, Croatia, Nicaragua.
I have checked what is available online already for some of the lowest-ranked quizzes currently listed. None of Suriname, Costa Rica or Thailand has a good replacement available.
If you are interested in any other country which has a red-highlighted entry on the link, I would suggest first checking the available quizzes - if you find one that you think would work, you can post a link to it. If not, write one!

Cuba got sent offline for a disputed question, which I looked up the answer to and verified that my question was indeed correct, and resubmitted. It hasn't been placed online again yet (and it's been nearly a week since that happened, so the geography queue must be pretty lengthy). There's no need to write a new quiz about Cuba, though:)
