Subject: Bus Ride Renewal Challenge

While the replacement of low-ranked quizzes is a continuing goal, preparation of extra quizzes to introduce variety for the tourists is also important now that the Bus Ride is well-established. Some tourists are on their third tour, and even nice quizzes get repetitive. The lowest-ranked quiz at the moment (in the cycle), aside from a few that have already had a volunteer for a new quiz, is Dominica, around 31,000, which is roughly in the top third of all quizzes.

The following list shows the quizzes in the current rotation in need of an additional quiz:

Angola, Belize, Burundi, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Comoros, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Lesotho, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Moldova, Mozambique, Nauru, North Korea, Palau, Republic of Congo, Saint Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Swaziland, Syria, The Bahamas, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Zambia

If you create a new quiz on one of the preceding countries, get it placed online, and have it place within a reasonable ranking, it will be removed from the listing for this project and placed into the cycle for future rides.

As an added bonus, we have modified the ratings system to give all quizzes in our rotation a ratings bump.

Feel free to use this thread to also "claim" a country so that you don't duplicate someone else's effort and make sure to follow along with our later posts and updates to make sure that everything is in order. We look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Can quizzes that fit into World rather than Geography be considered? My latest quiz may have too many references to history, economy and culture to be allowed in Geography, but it is definitely about the country!

It's probably alot to ask, but is there any way the list could be amended to show which ones have been reclaimed/adopted/submitted, as in the other challenges?

I suddenly realised that ALL the bus stops are on that list, not just the ones that need doing, so I am trying to replace a perfectly good, rated in the top 5000 quiz. Um blush and Duh to me lol, I really should make sure I'm fully awake before taking on challenges. I may finish what I've started since I did play both extant Kiribati quizzes and have been careful to try and find totally new Qs, but it'll be a long while if I do ever get round to it. My bad and sighhhh :-S

Rowena, Kiribati is shown with a red number - just outside the 'top quarter' that seems to be the cutoff, so Terry would apparently like another one.

Is there any way to see the offline quizzes if we want to replace one of them? It would be nice to see what has already been done - might provide inspiration for some of the quiz, or offer ideas about what to avoid!

When will the link above show updated quizzes? Tuvalu, with an editor's choice recently completed, is still shown as the quiz from 2000 with no II which is offline. As more quizzes get written, it is going to get more and more tedious to scroll through all the pages looking to see which countries are in fact still in need of a new quiz. I realize that there is no problem having multiple good quizzes on a country, but I would prefer to put my efforts into a needy and neglected country (of which there seem to be quite a few!) rather than one which is already being given attention.

When the quiz was last up on the Bus Ride (odd place for a bus to reach...) it received a number of corrections. As far as I know, while Flynn may visit the site, no quizzes have been written for a very long time. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be fixed, but it's the author's choice.
