This why I don't like snakes:

Snakes have to eat, too. Pythons are not indigenous to Florida, and are here because of ignorant and selfish PEOPLE who no longer wanted their pet snakes, therefore turning them loose.

My snake eats small rats at the moment. If she got big enough to eat a deer I'd take her to a rescue or the zoo because she'd be eating better than me.

We have a 5ft Corn snake. We have had it for 2yrs. I used to be terrified of snakes, but now I can hold it and let it crawl on me without getting freaked out. Its has never bitten anyone , and is quite friendly.

I like snakes. If you handle one they are not at all slimy, they're cool to the touch and very smooth, almost a silky feeling. I wouldn't have one but only because they do need specialist care and it wouldn't be fair to have any animal that you can't look after properly.

ElusiveDream I'd love to have a pet snake, either a Diamond Python or a Black-Headed Python.

Greatguggly When I was about eight years old I caught a harmless garter snake in my yard and attempted to keep it as a pet. My plan was to temporarily keep it in a cardboard box until I could find something more suitable. I thought I was sure the snake could not get out of the box but when I woke the next morning it was gone. The sad thing is I made the SAME mistake again a year or two later only this time I'm pretty sure it was a baby copperhead! Needless to say I didn't inform my mother either time.

I like snakes but I'd never own one because I wouldn't want to feed it the things you have to feed snakes. :)
