As I write this, I'm listening to Stuart McLean on CBC's 'Vinyl Cafe', and he's playing songs that were written/performed for children or songs that children have liked over the years - so far he's played 'The Ballad of Davy Crockett', 'Supercalifragelistic', 'Baby Beluga', various counting songs and so on. What was your favourite song when you were a kid? I liked 'Green Grow the Rushes O' (drove my father nuts singing that one in my less than mellifluous voice all the way from Birmingham to Hereford when I was about eight),'Barbara Allen', and 'Mairzy Doats'.
